My opinion has basically been stated by you!
Although anything is possible. But I see a big downward hill for the way women are respecting themselves. NOT ALL OF THEM lol but a lot.

I completely agree with you. They can coexist. Those two concepts aren't mutually exclusive and I don't know why many people think they are.

the definition in the dictionary and our actions/outlook are polar.

Yeah when I say feminism men think men-hating bitches. Even though really those are on the extreme side of feminism to the point it's not even feminism anymore.

I support equality between genders and the ability to choose which is the basic foundation of feminism. Some "feminist" support inequality by putting women on pedestals that's not feminism that's them being a greedy bitch.

I mean why do girls think that they need to be feminist to pursue equality while it could also be attained by join the better part of egalitarianism?

Not sure actually this is the first time I have heard that term.

I think it's more that feminism is focused on female problems because it's more focused on what effects them.

Too many women have become so strident with it. Also, that's what's making men seek wives overseas. We don't want to be married to bossy, controlling strident women. All most of us seek is dignity and respect. Is that too much to ask. ?

    No they can't co-exist.
Feminist want all the good things and none of the bad things.
They want society to remove all obstetrical for them so they feel equal but they also want men to still do the sexist gynocentric nonsense.

Feminism is feminism. Radicals follow the same doctrine as the non-radicals.

Chivalry is not just gallantry toward women and ONLY women. Chivalry is gallantry towards everyone. So, yes. They can co-exist. In old times, doors were opened for women because men didn't want their "property" to get damaged.

Bang678, you're confusing polite chivalry over self-proclaimed "nice guys." I totally agree with if you were talking about the nice-guy syndrome since some men act nice but expect some kind of reward for doing so.

Being chivalrous is independent of that: some men who are so-called jerks do chivalrous things too.

I have to disagree with you there... Chivalry is a relic of darker times with less freedom and agency for females...
And feminism is a modern malady hell-bent demonising and disenfranchising men on the pretext of empowering women...
It is shallow and disgraceful to expect the best of both worlds and not admitting the evils of either

"Chivalry is a relic of darker times with less freedom and agency for females"

That's a bit of a stretch. If you mean freedom and agency to die in wars then yes. If you mean less freedom to not be respected by men for being females then I'd say no. Granted I don't think women alone deserve respect I think innocent people do regardless of their gender. People can be bad regardless of their gender.

Let me rephrase, they didn't have a choice (necessarily) as to whether or not they got respect from men. And contrary to what many people are taught they weren't denied as many rights as you may think.

Chivalry juxtaposed with feminism is a cocktail for disaster. Just look at India... Rape and gender related crimes is only the beginning... Chivalry in the context of gender dynamics is insulting to women. It is mandatory for men to vacate seats reserved for women in public buses yet it is considered chauvinistic to defend the said practice by saying women are physically weaker than men and deserve the reserved seats...
And for the record, in times when chivalry was rampant, women were barred from universities, denied any say in heir governance...
So, yes, those were darker times.
And also since you brought it up, I do not believe anyone 'deserves' respect. Respect has to be earned. I'm not obligated to respect anyone regardless of their gender or how 'innocent' they are.
Disabled or aged combat veterans ought to earn everyone's respect.
Pioneering scientists and experienced university professors ought to earn everyone's respect.
Entitled females & bratty school kids deserve contempt.

Why not call themselves egalitarian then if they want equal rights for all? Feminism implies that it is for women only.
