she probalbly was insecure and did not wanted you to think she is fat or let you feel it ( even if she is skinny as hell all girls want to have a flat tummy, we all have in our heads we need to look like models) if you dont want to talk about if she might think she is fat etc. try to tell her more that she looks good, or that she is beautiful or just you look great today. it will help her build up a bit self asteam, and she will feel more comfortable with you and her own looks.
trying to tell her she is beautiful is something you should tell her more anny way because there is a big chance she stand before her mirror everyday thinking who to look the prettyest for you (putting up make up, doing her hair etc.) i can promise you she will really apriciate it!
