I have a bromance with my friends (most are male). If a guy was jealous of my close friendships, I would assume he's insecure, paranoid and on the brink of becoming controlling.01 Reply- +1 y
hmm never thought of the possibility of a bromance between a guy and a girl but i think it is in fact possible.

+1 yLots of girls have best friends they think of as sisters. Just because it's not in media as much doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

i know girls have best firends XD and this quesiton isn´t really serious. i do still think though that there are different typical behaviors between girl-girl and guy-guy friendship. it just happens though that there is a word "bromance" for the male variety.
- +1 y
Maybe it's because fan fiction writers wanted a way to let two male characters be in a close relationship without being seen as gay. They had to come up with a special word so guys wouldn't feel threatened by two guys hanging out.
Women don't have as much stigma attached to forming close relationships so they don't need a special word to ensure everyone knows they're straight. - +1 y
why fan fiction though? there is bromance in "Scrubs" and "how i met your mother" or do you consider those fan fiction? ^^
- +1 y
Where do you think a lot of writers get started? Do they spring fully formed from universities with no concept of feedback from a wider audience?
- +1 y
i don´t know XD i´ve never been writer or even into writing at all.
- +1 y
Ohhhh okay sorry then. So there's an online culture around everything right? Each culture comes up with it's own names for things and sometimes the names will speech across to other cultures and gain mainstream acceptance. That's how words and concepts like bromance, shipping, or OTP have developed.
- +1 y
I do think though that there is a true sense behind this word other than not making guys feel gay xD

+1 ySo jealous of the bromance! I can't handle the shit anymore!! *pulls out hair*
Haha nah I'm kidding. Doesn't bother me, it's cute that two guys can have a brotherly bond between them. It's cool36 Reply- +1 y
- +1 y
"cute" is totally banned in male-male communication!
- +1 y
+1 yI'm not. I used to have a very close female friend, I understand a guys need for that special bond you can only get with someone of the same gender. I miss it.

yeah i think it´s different with a girl-girl friendship though :) hence the term bromance.
- +1 y
no it's not. a bromance is like female best friends. usually guys, even best friends, aren't close in that way.
- +1 y
not in "that" way and this is why it´s a "bromance" and the girl-girl friendship is not XD
- +1 y
define bromance.
- +1 y
A bromance is a close, non-romantic relationship between two (or more) men. It is a form of affectional or homosocial intimacy. it clearly differs from a girl-girl relationship in terms of conversation topics, certain moral codex and behavior.
- +1 y
it's the same as female best friends.
- +1 y
no it´s not the "same" i pointed out the difference. for example (and this is stupidly stereotype but gets the point across): girls talk about makeup and guys about cars. also men have a different way to talk about feelings plus there is a special moral codex for bros.
- +1 y
it doesn't matter what you talk about.
- +1 y
so you are the judge now who decides what matters and what not? :P it wasn´t a serious question anyways but i do think a male-male friendship is quite different from a girl-girl friendship. and the activities and ways of communication differ quite a lot.
- +1 y
yes but you can´t say 2+2 and mean 3+3
- +1 y
Lions need eachother to protect their territory and their lionesses ;P
Nope :) i think it is cute whenever they play video games or play sports or watch sports or talk about girls lol
13 Reply- +1 y
argh the word "cute" burns so much in a manly mans ear XD
- +1 y
well i should have seen that coming XD
+1 yI kinda am because it feels like other girls are catty bitches half the time and it'd be nice to get along with them better.
01 Reply- +1 y
i don´t understand why most girls here assume girls friendships are the same :/ at least you understand it ^^
+1 yWe do have our own version - they're called "Friends".
11 Reply- +1 y
you don´t usually have a bromance with regular "friends" xD
I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure girls are able to have friends too.
116 Reply- +1 y
of course you can have good friends and best friends but a bromance is a totally different story. think of the relationship between Turk and J. D. (Scrubs)
- +1 y
the affection is probably the same but the way we express it and generally communication is totally different in my opinion.
- +1 y
for example. if we tell each other "how our day was" (we wouldn´t actually call it that), we keep it short and to the point, maybe a few words, hardly a sentence. mostly no questions asked.
girls tend to tell a lot more finer details and will talk a lot about it. - +1 y
see ^^ it is different and it´s normal, that you don´t "understand" it just like guys don´t "understand" girl-girl friendships but i think it´s fine this way.
- +1 y
I do understand and I'm telling you it's the same lol. We talk that way with some friends too, it depends on each person and not the gender. I have friends who are really talkative while others aren't at all. I also have male friends who have "bromance" and I see them interacting all the time and it's the same as my female friends.
I just don't see why you think it's so special if yo say you talk less than a sentece? - +1 y
ragecomics.com/-img/4f0cb2c0186133265700b1c9.png yeah i know girls have a thing too but its not the same it´s just similar.
- +1 y
yeah i know ^^ but this isn´t a serious question anyways.
- +1 y
Yeah I know but I wanted to know what you were trying to say. Also lots of "bromances" are like the girls part haha. I've seen a friend talking on the phone with his best friend and he was like "DUDE I FUCKING MISS YOU SO MUCH. BRO I LOVE YOU" and his gf and I, who's actually my best friend were like dude cHILL.
- +1 y
yeah but if guys say something like "i love you" it´s clearly mocking the other person and not meant like this xD or they have a real romance going XD who knows.
- +1 y
it´s like the bro code ^^ it only aplies to a constructed concept of manlyness. no man is really like this ^^ but i do think that bromance is special and "most" girls don´t have it.
+1 yno not jealous, I think they're adorable.
Case in point: @JackKerouac77 and @Ihav2fart04 Reply- +1 y
good point ^^ jealousy is bad anyways.

I dedicate this song to us:

you mean, do we wish that we would have really good friends?
01 Reply- +1 y
bromance is more than really good friends ^^ everybody can has a really good friend but only guys can have a bromance.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yBromance is cute, but the girlfriend might get jealous if she sees how the bromance stands out more than your relationship with her
12 Reply- +1 y
why do so many girls use this awfull word to describe bromance? xD
Opinion Owner+1 yhaha it's true though XD
+1 yNot jealous. I already have something more than a "bromance".
I01 Reply- +1 y
and what is that?
+1 yBromance is hilarious XD
10 Reply
+1 yNo but I think it's gay
01 Reply- +1 y
gay is romance without the "b" xD don´t confuse it.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yEhh... they do.
