How come girls cheat more than guys?

Question

First off, I want to make clear that this is just my personal observation. I'm a very social person, as in I can't stand being alone, so I go out a lot and know a lot of people, often more outgoing ones as well. I know around 20 women that have cheated and only one guy, which to me is pretty remarkable. Of those girls most are just in their twenties, had a boyfriend and got fucked by another guy they met at a bar or party when they were drunk. Then there's 5 colleagues at work, 2 who are engaged and 3 who are married and have kids, who had sex with the boss. Both situations are cliché but it's always one of those that I see happening, and it's always the women cheating. The one man is a friend of mine, who cheated on his girfriend because she cheated on him.

Is it just coincidence? Or is it just a reality that girls cheat more? Has it maybe changed over time? I do notice that it is easier for women to cheat or simply have sex. I have several occasions where I was able to cheat, but I didn't. The guys I know who are good at getting laid, and that's not so many, just stay single. What do you guys think about this? Its not uncommon, being a really attractive guy I've gotten sexual advances from girls who had boyfriends and fiances and husbands. Its not even weird to get them when we barely know each other. Its kinda scary just how easily your girlfriend or wife or fiance can cheat on you and youd never know. Also guys who were strippers said its not an uncommon thing for the bride to be to hook up with the stripper or blow him.

I used to think it was the other way around, mainly because it was usually guys who cheated in High school and were stereotyped as the person who would cheat and because girls appeared to care more about relationships and romance/love stuff and value them then guys did. Also because of my guy friends who cheated on their girlfriends without them finding out. And its normal to ask "have you cheated on her?" And hell give an honest answer and say "not yet" or "i dont cheat" or just no. And the ones that did get caught were stupid (about it). Like they cheated in front of her friends or with someone she would easily find out about. And there were so many ways i could think of to cheat and not get caught (even though i dont cheat) i factored in that guys were more sexual than girls are and are more likely to want to hook up with someone else.

But thats how i thought before my college experiences, now i think girls are just as sexual as guys are if the guys freaking attractive enough. Maybe just in general too.

So factor in everything, theyre just as likely to do it. So i think its the same.

I have no indication that one sex cheats more than the other. In my experience, men and women tend to have some difference of opinion on what constitutes cheating, though my opinion falls more on the woman's side of that.
But I would say the answer to your question, the reason it seems women cheat more, is from your limited perception. Perhaps females have been more honest or forthcoming with you. Perhaps it's your sample group.

I'm not sure how much truth there is to the statement that girls cheat more...
If so, maybe it's easier for girls to cheat on their s/o than the other way around because guys are generally a lot more willing to casually hook up. For example, it'd be a lot easier on average for a girl to hang out with a guy, even if she just met him, and have it end with a hook up if she chooses to do so than it would be for a guy hanging with a girl.

So yeah, perhaps it's easier for women to simply have sex because of the supply/demand sort of thing. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll cheat more though..

I always thought it was guys but honestly it's probably equal between the two we just all happen to know a certain amount of people of one sex who did more than the other. I've heard of people cheating because they weren't happy, but still loved them or benefitted enough to stay with them. Or someone who was comfortable with their partner but wanted a thrill of something new because they weren't giving them the attention they used to.

I would guess that it's more a situation where you're a fellow female, so girls are more likely to share the fact that they cheated with you. A guy who cheated probably wouldn't tell his female friends because it makes him look bad and the information could get back to his significant other.

Well, my personal experience is the opposite. I know far more men who have cheated than women. However, I'm not the type to make broad generalizations and I know not all men are cheaters. I think in reality, if we ARE going to generalize though, men and women probably cheat about the same amount. Obviously not all men and women are the same though, I know plenty of people who are capable of being faithful in relationships.

That may be true in your social circle, but in order to say "girls cheat more than guys" we would need a true research with scientific metodology, isolation of variables and such. From the studies I've read, guys used to cheat more until some time ago. Now things are pretty much even.

Women get a lot of male attention.. the hotter the worse because there constantly getting turned on, since a buttload of guys are always at their disposal

I think it comes down to the person, whether it be a guy or girl.

I do find that the majority of people who tend to cheat have low self esteem... because they are looking for someone to constantly reassure them. If they don't get that from the person they are with, then they tend to go looking for that other person that finds them attractive and strokes their ego!

I don't really think that they do. In my personal experience, I've noticed that guys cheat more. But I can't say that in general it's that way. It's probably pretty even. I've been cheated on twice. I know a girl who's boyfriend had been cheating on her from the very beginning of their relationship. 6 years and 3 children later and he finally came clean and told her everything. This same girl was also a serial cheater in a previous relationship. I don't think it's as black and white.

Girls can be more insecure and easily woo'ed by a compliment or attention. Plus, many women can't handle their alcohol.

I was faithful for 16 years, and he cheated on me 6 times--I only knew about 2 of them. Finally, he felt guilty enough to confess about all of them and ask me if I wanted out. He said he felt like he just couldn't help himself. Which is a sad excuse, because he is very, very disciplined in other areas of his life. So I think it's just circumstance. I know lots of men who cheat, you know lots of women who do. I wonder if it's addicting? Like once you start, do you get hooked on the thrill of it?

I can't answer for anyone but myself but I can honestly say it is easier for women to get a guys attention if they want sex than it would be for the guy to have the roles reversed. It has been my experience that a woman will cheat if a guy will flirt enough , I should know I have been cheated on and I have returned the favor. I have never persued a married woman nor have I ever caused one to cheat

Well, based on psychology, the people who are more likely to cheat are those who are not happy with themselves. In other words, the ones with self-esteem issues. If studies show that women suffer from self-esteem issues more so than men do then they will probably be more likely to cheat as well; therefore, proving your point.

Sorry but your cunlcusion doesn't make any sense. Cheaters (both women and men) act equally, if you have female cheater you suppose to have male cheater accordingly, or all female cheaters prefer to have single lovers? I don't think so. My experience tells me that women cheat same like men do.

My guess is reality is that overall it's even between the genders.  I personally know more males than females who have cheated... and mind you, I have more female friends than males.

I think that is just a coincidence. Also the former cases of having sex while drunk could be considered rape. In the latter cases perhaps the women were afraid of being fired if they didn't bed their bosses.

I always though that its pretty even but I have noticed what you say too. As an above average looking guy myself I had plenty of opportunities from girls with boyfriend but I said no. Cuz I have been cheated and it sucks. I know that pain. I think its an immature act. So if I just want sex I stay single and I do it with single girls. But if I want a relationship I am looking for girls with nice personality that really like so she won't cheat on me.
