Why do girls cheat?

I know girls and guys both cheat but I’ve heard several stories about girls cheating on their boyfriends. I’ve liked a guy in the past who seemed perfect to me but unfortunately wasn’t into dating me but had girls cheat on him in the past. It caused him to have a little hatred for women.
Then I have a guy friend who sleeps with married women.

it's a long laundry list of reasons but it boils down to hypergamy

basically the guy she cheats with has to be superior to her boyfriend in some way or multiple ways whether he's taller, stronger, more handsome, more rich, more famous, bigger dick, more of a bad boy etc.

or something that is "perceived" to be positive e. g. a convicted felon or someone of another race etc.

They cheat because there's a difference between what makes a man a good boyfriend/husband vs what makes a man "hot". Ideally a woman wants a man who offers both of those things, but very often they can't find that guy. The "hot" guys won't commit to her, and the guys who are more loyal to her aren't as sexually exciting to her. So she gets into a relationship with the less sexy but more stable guy, and cheats with the hot guy behind his back.

People cheat when something is missing from their primary relationship. That is no excuse, but that is how it starts. People who are truly in love and who have good sex lives don't cheat on each other.

Ego. Women almost never cheat for sex. Men cheat for sex and animal urges. Women cheat as some sort of punishment to their boyfriend/husband or nonsensical emotional mood swings.
