Ok, so this has happened to me and it's not that big a deal, so we just try to clean it up and forget about it when it happens. There are actually two separate stains on the bottom of my mattress (I have flipped it over). My fiancé thinks both stains are from her and she is quite embarrassed about it. What I haven't told her however is that one stain is from her, the other is from an ex girlfriend from 4 years ago… I want to tell her that one period stain isn't hers so it will make her feel less bad/guilty/embarrassed about the situation, but I have never been able to bring myself to admit it. I mean could you imagine it… "Hey darling, don't worry because only one of those period blood stains is from you". EXACTLY!

Maybe it's just time to buy a new mattress! XD

omfg you just gave me a memory. didn't realise id come on my period and the guy had me on the kitchen counter, and then when we got up he was like whats that on the counter? it was blood, then realised it had got on HIM !!! OMFG i died of embarrassment

Ok that guy was actually a major dick, and in the length of our "relationship" was pretty horrible to me, BUT in that instance he was really nice. He didn't mind and said it was ok. So... From experience, even player guys who don't care about you and are dicks will STILL be nice in that situation. So don't worry about it :)

id i was her, id personally be a little embarrassed :( , apologise and just remove it myself to put it in the wash. id kinda feel bad making him clean it. it really depends on whether he insists to do it or not, but id still try to take some sort of action.

Jump out of bed, get the sheets off as quickly as possible and put it in water. Blood stains are tough clean once it dries, so the sooner you clean it, the better.
Then I'll put some clean sheets, kiss her, and go to bed. No biggie ;)

If she were asleep and that happened, I'd gently roll on top of her and hug and lightly kiss her to wake her up, and then if she started to freak out, I'd give her a really tight hug and a giant kiss on her lips to stop her from talking. I'd have her go take a shower and clean up while she's in it. Not all men are brutes who are disgusted by periods.

Change the sheets / blankets / matress pad. Treat the stains. (I prefer Zout!) Do laundry. Make the bed. Have a cup of coffee. Generally not make a big deal, shit happens.

Just wash the bed sheets, deep clan the mattress and everything. Replace the old with new and we're fine.

I'll warn her to use a tampon/pad carefully next time.
