For those not in the know, promise rings are normally considered a stage in a serious relationship, a symbol of lasting commitment between two people. They can be exchanged between two lovers or best friends, though usually, they are replaced by a true engagement ring at a later date. Promise rings are also used as a reminder of how special the other person is to you. I've been seeing a ton of these little rings on Pinterest, so my question is, what do you think about them? Girls and guys, would you ever want to give/receive a promise ring?

  It's creepy on two fronts. The first is the idea of a young woman being pressured by family and peers to relinquish all claims to owning her sexual self. She's expected to exist first for Daddy and then for hubby. Never for herself.
  
  That sounds like a kind of slavery to me.
  
  Second creepy factor is Daddy having a romantic relationship with his little princess. Incest alarm.

  Part of growing up is taking full ownership of yourself and your actions. Not everyone sees things how I do, but I think a young woman should stand on her own two feet. To me, granting Daddy the status of her only man until he gives her to her husband seems wrong. She never gets to experience life as anything but someone else's possession. It doesn't seem fair to her. Your mileage may vary.

  first of all there are already too many stages in between meeting a girl and committing to her, yeah it sounds like a cute idea that girls will keep thinking about for a long time but honestly its not practical kinda cheesy, and doesn't feel like me, also its quite easy to trick girls with such a ring, you're not really committed or anything its just a ring of "trust" you can do whatever you want then dump her with no consequences.
