How often should a guy text you in the beginning?

He texted me first, I replied we had a conversation. Few days later I messaged him and he replied instantly. That was 3 days ago - has not messaged me since? I swear guys are supposed to contact you a lot more often in the very beginning? We have been flirting for a couple of months, then at my friend's birthday party he said that he liked me, we kissed and exchanged phone numbers. (He was quite tipsy though :/).

Every guy is different. Some guys want you to initiate; others will gladly do so. Me and my boyfriend texted daily since the start as we'd both initiate constantly and it just stuck since day 1. Plus it helps that we both enjoy chatting over Whatsapp. Some guys don't like it and don't make a effort due to it. Some guys are also not good at texting. There could be many reasons. But the best advice I can give is it should be balanced. You both should put in effort. If that is not happening then it's a good sign that commitment and desire is lacking from one side.
