What do you think? Is it socially acceptable for men to use "lol" while texting?

I do what I want...who cares what people think? If I lived life listening to what others thought was acceptable, I wouldn't be as successful as I am.
Any person who makes comments like that should have his man card removed...cause clearly he has nothing legitimate to bring to the table to debate about.
It saddens to me to think that people in the real world and in the work place, make debate over the most trivial things. Is this guy that bored with his life? My guess his right or left hand is his best friend. But that's just my opinion.
You should send him a text and say "I heard this guy at work likes to complain about people who text message...and use lol LOL "
That guy is a joke.
It is perfectly fine to type "lol", but do not say it because that is just kind of weird. Tell the person who said that if they are so insecure about their masculinity that they cannot type "lol" then they have a serious self esteem problem.
A: deffinitely. All of my guy friends use lol all the time. I think its actually cute sometimes. That way it adds a little more humor or personality to the text. I, personally, never use lol but that's just me. That doesn't mean someone else shouldnt or I should. I think it depends on the person but everyone else I know uses lol
I voted A.
Men laugh out loud in real life, though they might describe it as something more masculine like "chuckle" or "guffaw". I don't think "col" or "gol" would be as universally excepted as "lol".
What does your coworker think men should do, pretend they have no sense of humor or actually type out "hahaha"?
I voted A - but my answer is really more of a mix of A and E. I don't really have an opinion on it, but I also think that society is pretty accepting of men using the term "lol." The only difference I have seen in using internet acronyms is that I have seen more men use "lmao" than women. I tend to use "rofl." xD

man card? haha. it's just 3 letters typed out, what could that possibly mean? that's a weird rule. I Wouldn't think a guy is any lesser if he uses 'lol' in his typing unless it was some sort of academic and formal paper he was writing but if it was some random post on facebook...who cares.
If that's true I should have turned my card in years ago. What does it really matter other to emphasize "its a joke" as some things can be taken the wrong way and its a lot quicker than typing in "Im joking btw"
If having a man card means I have to follow his ridiculous rules I'm tossing mine in the shredder yesterday.
It's obviously just a three letter word that stands for a simple three lettered thing (laugh out loud) but I still find it really weird when guys say it or text it... Of course saying it rarely would be fine, like if you have absolutely nothing left to say, but most of the time I just find it very femenine. basically, if you wouldn't say it in person, don't say it over texting!
:)
Wha? Lol! this is kinda weird. Are you serious about this question.
Theoretically, let's say it's not socially acceptable. What would happen to men who used it?
I'm fine with lol, although it does seem like girls use it more. Does anyone have any thoughts on smilies?
I don't think anything is wrong with it. Men can't laugh?
if girls can use lol so can guys. there's nothing wrong with it and it does not diminish ones masculinity in any way...ive liked many guys who use it and never thought about it...
A)... all the way. And yes, this debate is ridiculous... lol ;P
Ask him what he's smoking. I want to get that stuff too.
I say lol, so your coworker can smd :P
LOL
What the HELL is that guy smoking? xD
They should use lmao instead of lol.
Weird fellow.
