Relationship at a stand still?

I've been seeing my SO for almost 5 years and can't help but feel like pur relationship is at a stand still.
We aren't engaged , we dont live together although we live rather close to each other in distance, reason for that being that we have conflict in terms of buying a house or renting at our age.
Mates around us who have been together for less time are getting married and moving in together - whereas we don't seem to be taking any of the necessary steps. It constantly upsets me to the point where I can't help but feel like he isn't as serious as I am. It's making me question what's wrong with Me? Why aren't we at that point?
Surely after almost 5 years together you should know what you want?
