Depends on the person. I personally like them and I currently have one. The reason why I got one (when I was 18) was because my boyfriend and I were moving to different colleges. He wanted to get me one to promise that he will marry me one day. I think it's a cute gesture.
Promise rings are a waste of money. They are an empty commitment. It will not change whether he says with you or is faithful. What changes with a promise ring? Nothing.
If they are important to you that is what should matter to him. You dont buy your girlfriend a promise ring for yourself, its for her. Sounds like he is just cheap and selfish.
You sound like the kind of guy that doesn't understand that an engagement ring is a promise of future contract. If the engagement is broken the ring is returned. It's not a gift, it's a symbol.
and maybe he doesn't feel that way for her? Idg women who think men should buy them this and that if he not doing it that's means you don't mean that much to him for him to get it.
@Gommers Why are you so mad? Learn to treat people a little better. Hopefully one day you learn that lesson, life becomes a much better place when you see beyond your own small mind. Don't bother replying, you are way to far below me for me to read anything else you say.
Well.. the one who said that should be you. If a man says it, I can't sense the honesty. cuz they would talk like peter pan but you can't see more from their acts.
Yeah promise rings are fine. If i was going to get married i would just buy a engagement ring for a girl.

Just because all your friends have it really? 😝 Don't do things or want things because "all your friends got it." Anyway, I think promise rings are stupid🙈

It just makes me feel like why am I not worth it, when everyone else I know has one. I know that probably sounds silly. I hate being a woman, sometimes.
Yeah but all guys are different. Those girls probably bothered their guys to get them one because most guys don't care about that stuff. It means nothing...

They're gay and in my opinion it seems like the couple doesn't really trust each other if they need a promise ring.
Unless it's also going to be your wedding ring, then it's a waste other than an emotional gesture. An expensive gesture.
I think promise rings are a sweet high school gesture but a complete waste of time for people in their 20's or older.
i mean you can buy very real looking rings at kohls, walmart and target from like $10 to $20. It doesn't need to be real.
no. if people are going to commit, they are going to commit. a piece of metal will not make you faithful.
I think it's stupid and a waste of money. If someone wants to do it, then fine, but I wouldn't really want one.

@gommers I have no idea where you got that from what I said, lol @NatashaJ I dont make assumption, i give advice based off the information given.
Apparently you can't read, write, or comprehend your own thoughts. And I thought the millennials were fucked up.

Not really? Either your with someone or your not. It shouldn't be about what they get you. Or you them etc
They're not necessary at all. An engagement ring is sufficient, and if you're not at that point you don't need anything.
Well.. the one who said that should be you. If a man says it, I can't sense the honesty. cuz they would talk like peter pan but you can't see more from their acts.
I think its a waste. If they can't promise by mouth and keep it then whats a ring gonna do?
It's definitely a way to make jewelry stores get some profit, but otherwise irrelevant.
No theyre not a real thing, kind of a gimmick. Im with him on this one, never buying a girl a promise ring
They aren't necessary but my boyfriend and I have one
That's something that teeenage guys in high school did. Because it would have been weird to propose that young so they needed a substitute
