What do you guys call your SO (or what do they call you), and why? Do you refrain from using certain nicknames? What impression do you get from using different nicknames and why?
I won't judge; I'm open to all opinions, likes and dislikes :)
In casual conversation, she is babe or baby. When I want to call her name and have every syllable reverberate with love, she is Belle. As I've said in previous post, I'm about as attractive as a dump truck, but she really is beautiful (people always look dumbstruck when they realize we're together. It's very funny), so coworkers started calling us beauty (complimentary- guys at the office think she's hot) and the beast (derogatory-I'm ugly and I'm kind of a dick at work. Very much the asshole that yells a lot and has unreasonable standards/expectations. I don't have many fans outside of the people work directly with me) behind our backs. Well it just so happens that her favorite movie is... Beauty and the Beast. Well one day at work, she came to my office to grab her lunch and as she walked away I yelled "I love you, Belle". I hadn't intended to call her that, but it's what passed my lips. The adjacent bull pin went silent as my detractors thought I had figured out their secret code names. She yelled back "I love you too, Beast". Afterwards, one of my peers filled me in on the relevance of what had just occurred and I couldn't help but laugh my ass off (then I terrorized the little bastards for being so cheeky). The names have stuck ever since.
That's amazing! π I love that, it's so ironic and perfect. Wow relationship goals right there π
I call my girlfriend shorty cuz she's short, smurfette, smokahontas cuz she's a stoner, and muffin haha she calls me stud muffin, honey buns, and handsome lol. We call each other boo and main squeeze all the time haha
Haha those are great! π
thanks i think people need to have more fun with nick names, babe and honey are so boring
Yeah, I agree. I usually call him handsome, and sometimes dork lol. He tends to call me beautiful, gorgeous, or nerd π Fun nicknames are always the best, but I haven't explored that very much yet.
I like dork and nerd thats funny! insults can be great nicknames, my buddy and his girlfriend always call each other bitch and fucker all nonchalant its hilarious
ππ Yeah playful insult nicknames are always kind of unexpected and funny lol
I call my boyfriend honeybee, angel boy, sunflower boy, honeydew, and a lot of the common pet names! I only call him dear when I'm upset at him, which isn't too often, but 😂😂 I do that because when my grandparents are upset with each other, the refer to one another as dear, so they know that one or both of them is upset! (And they talk about what upset them, as well!)
He calls me his bumble bee, baby girl, sunflower seed (I have no idea where that one came from), princess, sunflower gal, and a few other ones!
Those are all really cute pet names, I like them! I noticed the honeybee-bumble bee thing- relationship goals π
He mostly calls me beautiful. He uses it in the most caring and sincere way, too. "Are you okay, beautiful?" "Can I have your hand, beautiful?" It always makes me smile. He'll also call me sugar cookie or sugar muffin or something of that nature xD Or he'll try to be cool and call me babe or baby, when in reality it doesn't work and he knows it. He's just not that kind of person lol
I normally call him handsome, snugglekins, sweetheart or sweetie. Sometimes, I'll call him beautiful just to goof around haha.
That's really romantic! :) I can realte- My SO sometimes calls me "beautiful" or "gorgeous", and I really adore it. Snugglekins is really cute by the way π
I call him dear or love most of the time, on rare occasions sweetheart or dearest. He calls me dear pretty much exclusively, though if he's trying to irritate me a little he'll call me princess or kitten because he knows that the too cutesy ones annoy me :PI like the nicknames, I think they're kinda classic and sincere.

I'm not really one for nicknames. And I don't really have an SO either :/ . I'd rather call her something meaningful when it pops up in my head instead of with a nickname in a routine.
I respect that. My boyfriend and I haven't really delved into the "cutsie" nicknames, but sometimes he'll call me gorgeous or beautiful or nerd and I feel its more meaningful when he does it less often.
He calls me baby, babe, cutie, sweetheart, sexy babe, dolphin, beautiful, and sweetie along with honey
I call him monkey, bae, babe, handsome, honey, sexy man, my man, weirdo, and strange one
I love strange one π
Gwapo, pogi boy, big guy, baby, babe, sweetie, sleepy mumble, shithead.

ππ Yea I noticed that last one too
I mean it with all of the love in the world XD
idiot seems to be the one i use most often... but in an affectionate way
πππ
We use our first names, too soon in the relationship for cutesie names :D but some times we use the short of our first names, Jez and Kat.
I feel that- my SO and I have been together for a little while, but I'm still getting comfortable with the nickname-thing. Don't get me wrong, I think its really affectionate, but I don't think we're there yet :D... Thanks for sharing!
It takes time to get comfortable enough with each other to call each other affectionate things :) Thanks for the like!
Of course!
I call him:
baby, babe, handsome, bubby, and fucker lol
He calls me:
babe, baby, baby boy, lazy, moonlight, and Jack because i used to have white hair and he said I looked like Jack Frost
i remembered more
We call each other love and he calls me sleepy bc im always tired
I love all those! lol there's a nice range of nicknames.. are there any nicknames you refrain from using towards him or dislike in general, and why?
I cringe when I hear people call their boyfriends daddy or papi lol I'll call him those as a joke sometimes but usually it makes me throw up. And I don't really like sweetie or honey either. I don't know why
I agree, I'd feel a bit uncomfortable calling my boyfriend "daddy" because I associate that title with a family unit- that's just my opinion though, I know some people use those names toward their SO. That's really neat, thanks for sharing! :)
He calls me princess mainly, he's called me snowflake a few times as well...
He's my prince or I call him sweetie/sweetie pie (rhubarb flavoured, as it's his favourite)
My fiancé calls me kitten/kitty/princess. I call him Senpai/prince
Those are cute! Do you prefer cute/PG names like that in opposition to more "sexual" nicknames?
I like cute ones, I don't mind sexual ones but I prefer ones that actually mean something. Like he calls. me kitten or kitty because he thinks I act like a kitten. I call him Senpai because we both like anime. I used to call him onii-chan but that was weird since it means brother. π
I got ya π Meaningful nicknames are the best.
"babe" or "papi" depending on the mood lol.
I refrain from calling him "baby" because that's what he calls me. and never "daddy", he doesn't like that and it's kinda weird to me.
Yeah I agree, I personally think its weird to call my SO "daddy"- but that's just me! I like that you avoid nicknames that he calls you- is that so he has his special names for you and you have yours?
That's sweet and really affectionate! π:D
Boo, bub, babe, sweetie, fucker, dickhead, shitface, doofus
π niice, quite the variety there
Rollins, Ice Queen , Succubus , Snow Princess or just D cos one syllable , anddd palastuve
π Those are really cute! Lol I've never heard that last one before
I like to call her "beautiful", "love" and "Goddess of the Universe".
Wow those are beautiful. I really like "love"- it just seems so classy and romantic.
"Goddess of the Universe" is AWESOME by the way π
It use to be
-snookems

-sweety
-darling
Well he calls me babe a lot, as much as I used to hate it as it reminds me. of babe pig in the city...
Or mush :)
And I call him squidgy as I like squidging his bum haha or hun :)
I call her rara. She calls me jejen or bb most often. But we use bb interchangeably.
My boyfriend calls me girl/mrs/sweetie
I usually call him sweetie/Jaymsey (his name is James)
Don't have one. But I personalize nicknames for friends and family, that would be no different.
I call him Princy, baby, cutie, sweetie, babe
He calls me baby, sweetie, pussy, super baby😂
I love super baby π
Shawty, it's slang for a cute girl. If I'm fustrated it's
i generally only use a short way of his name and he call me baby or princess depend
