How can my boyfriend just "forget" to text me?

My boyfriend left with his study abroad group to go to Paris yesterday. He said he'd text me in about 8 hours, once he landed. He didn't text me until 13 and a half hours later. When I asked about it, he said he forgot to text me and then once he remembered, it was like 2 in the morning my time and decided to wait. But he only waited until 4:49 am my time. And he said "5 in the morning is better than 2!". If this matters, he likes to live in the moment. He very rarely texts other people while with me, which is great, but he also does the same when he's with his friends, which makes sense but I don't like very much. What should I do? How does a boyfriend just "forget" to text his girlfriend? I've never been worried about him cheating but should I be? This "forget" thing has happened once or twice before. Does he not care about me?

dude... you need to relax... they're guys, they're forgetful. and he seems like a nice guy so i think you're overreacting. you sound like one of those super obsessive girlfriends since you kept track of how long it took him to text you back LMAO. he cares about you obviously, he wouldn't have texted you if he didn't, and the fact that he texted you at five instead of two shows he was trying to be thoughtful.

math for what? to prove a useless point? you need to take a step back and realize it's not that big of a deal. he has a life, he probably got distracted doing something else. if my ass landed at the airport and im jetlagged af, my first instinct isn't to text my boyfriend, it's to rest, then text.

I'm sorry that you feel its useless but if it matters to me then why shouldn't I do the math for it? We just think differently and that's fine but please don't attack me for it. My first instinct is to text my boyfriend, my best friend, and my parents. And my point for asking was because I recognize that people may have different instincts than me. So thank you for your opinion but please don't call me "super obsessive" because I spent 5 seconds counting a few hours. It just seemed unnecessarily mean. :)

To be honest I would probably be the same. I'd text when I could to let my boyfriend I was safe and settled where I was staying but if I'm away I don't want to be glued to my phone the whole time, I'd want to live in the moment and make memories not just talking to someone I can see any regular day of the week. Relax, he didn't forget you. It's unhealthy to always be texting

traveling to a new country is going to demand his attention for awhile, time is going to fly by without him realizing it. his mind is just occupied trying process everything and exploring the place he's in.

Okay understandable. But when I travel, I think about texting him immediately after I land because I miss him. So I'm assuming this means he doesn't miss me? If so, should I do things to make him miss me more?

I'm sure he misses you, some people just process new things in different ways. He may have intended to text you but just got caught up in the moment.
if you want him to know you miss him maybe send a sexy photo, like something to tease him and say "can't wait for you to come back"

He landed and had almost definitely variety of things to take care of to get himself situated. He knew he was fine so he didn't tbink about texting right when he got in. Its not about you, don't take it personally.

I wouldn't assume that actually. Just because you do something in response to a feeling doesn't mean that if he doesn't do that exact thing he doesn't feel that way at all. He may not be a person that makes that specific gesture for that reason. Or he may have a bunch of things on his mind to navigate a foreign country and then miss you when things are less hectic. Or both.
