Does anyone else feel like being destined to be single forever?

Ever get the feeling, that you're destined to be single?
Like you may try to change that but either you can't even really try or you won't succeed but at least you tried.
I mean you can't force it to happen because that is not how it works at all.

I still look at this reality and existence as completely absurd and unnecessary to begin with. When things were just blank empty slates, they were fine as they once were, then things somehow changed, and that blank empty slate condition NO LONGER applied to this planet we're all currently on.

I do get the panicky feeling sometimes of wtf am I going to do if I'm single forever and where will I meet someone for me... but then I just try to tell myself that love happens differently and comes at different times to different people. Some people find it much later on but then the wait was worth it. I try to not let it bring me down and see the positive sides of being single :)

I hope I don't sound cliche but: At times I feel I may be alone forever too. I just try to focus on being the best person for myself. I believe the right person will come along to accent you. Most people I asked (that are in meaningful relationships) feel as though life just brought them together. It kinda reminds me of the Asian theory that lovers are connected by a red string (or thread) that may tangle or stretch but, never break. If you strengthen who you are then, your thread strengthens. The stronger the thread the easier it is to find who is attached on the other side. I hope that helps your view that's what helps me during my search for my mate.

Yup. I had that feeling for years. Until I realized that I was the only one to blame for my being single for years, which in turn led me to being pretty self-conscious and using that as an excuse to not approach anyone, to not be overly talkative/personable when guys did chat me up, etc..

I met my now-boyfriend maybe a week or two after coming to this realization and.. never looked back.

I choose it after 20 years of being single. Rejections and horrer stories if cheaters and women whom want nothing but money influenced me that relationships is not as fruitful as people make it up to be. Hearing that you find someone for over 10 years tends to stab at your confidence not to mention limiting yourself from others percieve you as a single person rather then a independent person. I'd rather be single and happy rather then content with a terrible relationship.

No, but I mean, I am 18 and have never had been in a relationship with a guy before or have any contacts. So whilst I know I don't want to be and feel like I won't, I do doubt whether or not I have the capability or if there is something off with me. But it's all in God's hands at the end of the day.

In my early twenties there was a stretch when I thought I would always be single, but I didn't think about it all the time, and I wasn't real concerned about it anyway. As it turned out a few years later, I fell in love and got married. I've been married 30 years now, but if my wife died, of course I would be sad, but being single again would be alright.

I'm weird, and I'm only gonna be able to live with a girl who is ready to be as weird as possible when she's with me. If I tell you about my interests, you might think I'm immature, but there's actually nothing wrong with my interests and scientifically, the things that I take interest in have like 80-90% probability of being true so...

You would be surprised, I'm quite the weird individual myself. Most people don't assume it because of how I look. I'm pretty sure there will be someone for you. Just remember to be yourself and you will attract the person meant for you.

That's why I'm not sure if I'm "destined" to be single. What you said made my hope even stronger. Finding the right one for me will be tough but who doesn't like a challenge right? :D

Don't make excuses. I was going to grad school and working full time. I made time to meet people.

What you call excuses is what i call sleeping healthily long enough, work full time, study full time and basically crash on the weekends to regain tranquility and strength for the next week.

And women still don't like me it seems.

Do you have friends? Facebook? Old classmates? Neighbors? Co workers? You have to be friendly with everyone you meet and let them know you are having issues with finding someone to settle down with. I found my husband on Facebook, through friends of friends i used to know from gradeschool

Old classmates? No - most of them were bullies or dicks
Neighbors? Yes but we have no common interests at all. I live in a country where the culture differs too much and poses a barrier for a relationship. I'm from the liberal Europe, they are very conservative - at least most of them it seems.
Co workers? Yes.

I think I am perceived alright. I didn't ask for anyone's opinion about what they think of me. But at the same time I care so little. I just make sure, that I do not hurt the others and treat everyone like I want to be treated.

It's impossible for somebody or anybody to find the "right" person when they have no fucking clue or idea whom that "right" person is supposed to be like for them. And my friend @Unit1 is quite picky about whom and what he wants and that's also very very difficult for somebody to match absolutely every single little bit of the criteria he is looking for.

I quit long ago as I have no clear idea or clue of what my criteria should be to even begin with and I have enough deep existential issues that it makes it difficult for me to want to be with anybody at all, knowing that eventually I'll probably just push them away and not want any further contact with them at all.
