Not wise for your age. You need to grow, learn and mature. And you have yet to do so if you have no plans for marriage. Somebody at that age is most likely to want to get married. It is on the large spectrum of the age gap. It is too much. Your life experience is nothing compared to a 26-year-old, who can make you appear as the baby and not an equal. You want to date with somebody that will last and lead to grow and maturity for the relationship. Especially where it successfully leads to marriage. You don't want to be with somebody with different life expectations than you. By you being so young, you may be prone to want to cheat if you feel trapped and hindered from living out what you want to do now.

TRUST ME if a 26 year old man has to resort to dating someone who is barely legal, he has issues of his own. There's a reason why women his age don't date him. Now, I personally don't think 8 years is that big of an age gap. I'm 22 and my last boyfriend was 36. BUT do your research on this guy before you get serious with him.

Was there a reason men your age wouldn't date you? I understand your point but it doesn't make much sense. At 18 legally you're an adult, but your age doesn't determine how mature you are.

Anyway, it's not that men my age wouldn't date me. They would. But it got old to me because I find a lot of guys my age stupid. So I started paying more attention to guys that were older than me. And no, your age doesn't have any bearing on your maturity but I personally find something suspicious when say someone in their 40s date much younger girls. Just seems creeper-ish.

I always say that it depends on the life stage more than age. An 18 y/o and a 26 y/o are almost always in very different life stages. A 30 y/o and a 38 y/o have a much higher chance of being in the same life stage.

the best formula I have seen to determine the minimum age to date is
Half your age plus 7
26/2 + 7 = 20
there are exceptions to every rule though.
but all things considered, a 26 yr old should not have any interest, other then sexual, in an 18 yr old.

not really in this day and age, i think the concern is more with how young some one is when they start a relationship not so much the age gap. do you think a relationship between a 28 year old and a 36 year old unacceptable.

It depends on how old they are, as in the older you get the less the difference seems to matter. At that point i think it's quite much as an 18 year old can still be quite a kid in contrast to a 26 year old. But i guess it's up to everyone what works for them. I personally as a 18yr old would probably not date anyone over 23 at this point. And they more likely wouldn't want to date me add in this young

exactly. at 18 you are a kid drinking stabucks caramel coffee and saying 900 "like" in all your sentences to link them together. the other is a grown up person. plus most 18 year olds are grossed out i think by men above 25.

@levantine99 yeah even though i'm also attracted to guys about 20-22, as most guys my age seem quite immature and in looks really boy-ish too, that might be a bit too much for me. It'd feel weird and maybe as if he was taking advantage of me or sth? If you get what i mean

for me personally it would be in most cases unless the 18 year old was extremely mature for their age or the 26 year old was rather immature for their age... but that's for me

Often, if the younger person is very emotionally mature, it all measures up anyway. You forget the age difference when you go well together.

Age is a number. I am 37 and have been with a woman we years younger than me. If you love them, and your relationship works and the age doesn't bother you, there is nothing wrong with age. (And of course both are of legal consenting age.) It can create a gap, though, and maturity levels and personalities can create a barrier. Age, weight, height, etc., are all just numbers.

I'd say that if a 28 year old is dating a 18 year old, he or she is probably to immature to date their own age. Your brain isn't fully developed until 25.

However it doesn't make them a criminal.

It depends on the age. For example. 18 and 26 is kinda ok but the 18 year old might be a little immature for the 26 year old but if we're talking about like 34 and 42 it's not that big of a deal but it's perfeclty fine if both want it.
