It's called mirroring. He's trying to act like a mirror, so you can see yourself in him, and relate to him. It creates kind of a psychological bond in many girls, especially those searching for a soulmate ! But won't work very well on a girl who doesn't love herself. To sabotage his game just say something and have him agree on it, ask him why he thinks so, and then express a different opinion yourself and watch his reaction. If he doesn't know what to do for a moment, then he is doing this consciously and intentionally. If he's spontaneous, then it might not be something the he is doing intentionally, rather something in his subconscious that he learned from real life experience.
