My boyfriend won't call me pet names anymore. What is going on with our relationship?

My boyfriend won't call me babe, baby, princess etc. anymore like he used to. When we first started dating he would call me those non-stop and I told him that I didn't mind. And now he rarely if not at all, call me pet names. He even asked me to stop calling him pet names and call him by his first name. Although, he makes sure I KNOW that he loves me so much and that he's not gonna leave. Just to add this in we are in a long distance relationship. What is going on? I'm really kinda worried and confused about our relationship.
