Boyfriend "accidentally" said "I love you"... Have you ever done this?

My boyfriend and I were talking on the phone and I told him to go to bed. He told me good night like he usually does then added on an "I love you" to the very end before hanging up. I was in shock for a bit but called him back to ask about it. He said he didn't even realize that he had said it and that it was an "accident". He claims it might have happened because he had been around his family all day.

I'm curious as to how many people have ever accidentally said I love you to someone and if it meant anything.

Yes, I've said I love you to someone by mistake before.

Yes, I did this in the car with a girl once. She made a joke or something that I thought was funny and I just laughed and said "that's great, I love you" or something like that. I had not meant to say that, and I hadn't been thinking it. It just slipped out. I liked this girl, but we'd only been together a couple weeks, I wasn't sure if we wanted something serious. it was way too early.

Then it hit me what I'd said, there was an awkward silence, and I instantly regretted it. We were both uncomfortable and we broke up soon after that. I think it freaked us both.

So yes I have done it, but no I don't think I have any useful advice on how to handle it. Good luck though.

i can sympathize w your situation because its not something that you really want to hear and have taken back especially if you do actually love that person. But, if that's not the case than don't sweat it. Its happened to me before too. A girl I was dating for a little while came to see me at my families house and when she left out of habit those three delightful words slipped out of my mouth. I noticed but pretended not to in the effort to not make a big deal out of it. She obviously called me and we talked about it but to answer your question, yes. It does happen. I think its a lot to do w the regularity a person uses it, buuuuttt that's just my two cents.

I've done it a few times before actually.. First time I did it was during sex and it just came out after a came. Another time my girlfriend was taking care of me when I was sick as hell and I just said it. Sometimes that sh*t slips out
