Guy accidentally said "I love you" a second time?

I have only been dating him for 3 months. So far, he has accidentally said "I love you" to me twice already. Is this common for guys to accidentally say it? The first time was when he was half asleep. The second time was recently when we were joking around and I jokingly said "you hate me don't you" and he blurted out "I love you". He immediately covered his mouth and laughed it off but what should I think?

It was not accidentally, he loves you, but makes it out to be accidental, because he is afraid that you don't feel the same and will reject him then
