Why do white men get upset when me and my white guy friend go out in public together?

I'm a black girl and he's white and gay but doesn't obviously look gay, so whenever we got out places I assume people assume we're a couple. We notice that whenever we go out its mostly always white who give him dirty disapproving looks and it's black guys who give me dirty disapproving looks.

I can see why black guys would be mad at me for being out with a white man, but why would white men care who he dates? It's also mainly young white men who give him disapproving looks.
He told me it's almost like they're saying with their eyes " What the hell are you doing talking to that black girl?"

I notice black women and white women don't seem to care when we're out together. Maybe they can more easily pick up on the fact that he's gay, but my question is why do white guys mainly the younger ones (18-30 years old) seem more disapproving of him being out with me.
