I won't put up with either of those types. Could be why I'm single. LOL.
Clingy doesn't bother me. Someone who is distant doesn't make me feel wanted or important.
I don't like either of those options but I will take clingy over distant.
If someone is distant, u can slowly reign them in to the perfect amount, but it is hard to push a clingy person away to the right point without pushing too hard.
More clingy than distant, but still not too clingy.

I honestly thought that was a great way to go about things - subconsciously distancing myself from him (especially when we're not together) just so I can have the upper hand. I'd take a while longer to respond to him, cancel dates. It started off as a strategic game as I really like him - but it soon became habitual as I was at a busier period in my life. He was relatively warm at first but soon became a bit distant - he'd mirror a bit of my behaviour but never as much.
It came to a point when the distance got a bit much for him. He actually opened up and told me how he felt instead of just walking away. He thought it was becoming a powerplay and does not want what we have to crumble. I was caught off guard by his vulnerability (as compared to my behaviour) and changed my attitude towards relationships then.
Bottom line is, If you really want someone, you need to show them and not play mind games. Different characters will interpret distance differently.
Get that some people think it's important to keep someone you actually really like guessing of their feelings to make them chase you harder/like you more as you're not certain if they like you as much.
But there comes a point when these unhealthy dynamics go past your partner's threshold and you lose something that could have been great. Insecurities... we all have them, be it minor or major ones. Gotta take risks in life, especially so if it's something you really want.

I'd rather have someone who constantly reminds me how much they care. I would be the distant one.
