My boyfriend hates my tattoos and wants me to remove one on my elbow and cover my leg. What should I do?

We have been seeing each other for 18months and has told me that I need to remove my tattoo on my elbow, cover the one on my leg. I love him so much but after already being in a bad controlling relationship was worried it's a sign of it starting again. He said the other week that if I don't do as he says he won't see a future and also said he won't look at me talk to me or even speak to me. I need help can anyone advise me. Thanks

The fact that he's allowing your tattoos to be a deal breaker in the relationship is unacceptable. You should NEVER have to change yourself like that by force, especially if it makes you uncomfortable. If you have a preference for tattoos, he should have known better of that since the beginning of the relationship. I would suggest telling him that you prefer to keep your tattoos and if he continues to persist, he's choosing his own pride over you and you should leave him. The fact you've been in a controlling relationship before doesn't help you out in any way here. Talk about him being inconsiderate of your feelings, especially when you've been dating for a year and a half now.

Just talk with him about it and see how it goes. I can't promise he'll cooperate effectively but addressing your concerns in a relationship is a healthy step in the right direction!

It's one thing to not like tattoos, I don't like tattoos either, but he can't just demand you to do something, regardless what it is (providing it's not something legitimately dangerous like doing drugs or criminal activities) so you should probably not stay together with him
