Is it weird that I like a girl 5 years younger then me?

Age is nothing. It's a standard for measuring time. Maturity, experience, and intention is all that matters. Society doesn't want an 21yo dating a 16yo because they've defined the intentions of the 21yo as negative. Standards such as 16+, 18+, 21+, 65+, etc are not because people mystically change at those ages, but because most people are at a certain point in their life, or thinking a certain way, by that age. If that makes sense.

If she's 18 but mature enough to bridge the gap between your varying levels of experience, there's no problem. The only way you can find that out is to get to know her first. If you find that your outlooks on life are too different, your priorities are nothing alike, or she's just too damn immature you can either move on or remain her friend without going through the dilemma of breaking up with a significant other.

It's not unsual or wrong for you to like her or even to persue her. However you have to accept that if you two did hook up it may not last very long due to the fact that she hasn't yet hit that age area where she really begins to let life change her as a person into who she will become as an adult. You're at that phase in life now so you understand what I mean.

Go for it, enjoy it, and have fun, but treat it lighthearted. Don't get too attached, and don't be surprised if a few months/years down the road she's turned into a completely different person who you don't want to be with or doesn't want to be with you.

Hey she's legal right? Just kidding even though that is very important. It is about maturity level. Does she still live with her parents? Supporting yourself can be a beg boot to maturity level because you have no choice. I have found that age doesn't matter as much as life experience. If the only gas bill she has is what goes into her car she may be on the immature side. This is just what I have come to find in general. To judge her maturity you have to get her in a situation where it is important to have it. Like for example how would she deal with her dad refusing to pay her cell phone bill anymore? Would she do the mature thing and arrange to pay it herself or go get her own? Or would she cry and wine and bitch until she got him to pay it again. Sometimes it takes time to see this. I would give it a couple months so you can feel her out (not literally) and see where it goes from there. By the way I don't think 5 or 10 years really matters if your intentions are true.

Honestly, if she's mature enough to be with a 23 year old, then why not give it a shot? And remember, age is just a number, it has nothing to do with the emotional or mental maturity of a person.

Ok, I didn't say "Do what Aaliyah did". When I first read the question, that's the only lyric that popped into my head. Whenever people ask "Is it ok to date someone this many years older/younger than me?" I always say the same thing, if there's a connection or there's an equality in maturity, then go for it. But that equality needs to be there, and I would never tell a 15 year old to go for a 28 year old, because I agree that's nasty.

Ok I understand the maturity and equality aspect, but 18 year-olds are NOT at the same level as 23 year olds!

18 is still in high-school or maybe just out of it, while 23 is either finishing college, in grad school, or well done with school in the "real world" 9-5 life. If such a 23 year-old connects with an 18 year-old, there's a problem! Why can't he get girls at least 20?

you like her for who she is, then that is fine. I know a guy who is like 25 and he was into a 17 year old girl and I find that gap, the greater it is, there sometimes is a maturity and life experience gap that is hard to over come, but when she's older, it's not a big deal.

18 is young because typically (not all) when 18 year olds are young due to their lack of experience. Also, their age hinders a lot. It's not as if you can her to a late night club to spend time with friends. I have a few friends that went a bit nuts when they turned 21 and wanted to go out a lot. It's not so much of a big deal later on in life (23 and 28 is just fine). I would be her friend and see where it goes
