I was reading a book about infidelity and it brought statistics that not only saddened me but also frightened. The amount of women cheating from sometime around the 1980s ish to early 2000s increased along with men. men cheat (generalized of course) in search for sex and unfaithful men often are as happy as a faithful man in a relationship meanwhile women who cheat do it more for emotional purposes that are not provided by their husbands, leading them to be more distressed when cheating. I read in the book an old lady had lived he whole life believing her husband was faithful, but it was not until he had passed away that she found out she was not the only woman her husband was seeing.

  There’s emotional cheating and physical.
  
  It starts out with a friend, and a marriage. As a married person, one must set up boundaries between their friends in order to keep their vows. By that, married couples do not vent about the marriage unless it’s a shared friend. When one lets his or her guard down with a friend and become intimate, (for example, vulnerability is a way to become intimate with someone) the individual begins to tell less to their partner and more to their friend. Often when they’re too close, and the spouse has an issue with it, it’s brushed off as “just a friend” but really they’re a lot more closer than that. When the individual begins to confine in their “just friend” to ask about their day instead of their spouse and all the other stuff, that’s the emotional cheating.

  To me this is like saying murdering someone is normal. Murder happens a lot. It has happened since the dawn of time, and yet, it is not normal. We don't praise those who murder others or consider it normal to do so even if it happens frequently in our world. As far as cheating goes, if one agrees to be in a relationship with one person, if they cheat, that is abnormal behavior. To consider it normal would suggest as a whole we agree with the behavior and think it no different than walking down the street, but we don't.
