Is cheating basically normal?

Anonymous
I was reading a book about infidelity and it brought statistics that not only saddened me but also frightened.

The amount of women cheating from sometime around the 1980s ish to early 2000s increased along with men.

men cheat (generalized of course) in search for sex and unfaithful men often are as happy as a faithful man in a relationship

meanwhile women who cheat do it more for emotional purposes that are not provided by their husbands, leading them to be more distressed when cheating.

I read in the book an old lady had lived he whole life believing her husband was faithful, but it was not until he had passed away that she found out she was not the only woman her husband was seeing.

I forgot to add that the roles kind of switched I think but that statement might be wrong (It’s in a book). But men now and days cheat emotionally and unintentionally with their friends

While women are now engaging in more sex
