Is cheating basically normal? (Page 2)

Question

I was reading a book about infidelity and it brought statistics that not only saddened me but also frightened.  The amount of women cheating from sometime around the 1980s ish to early 2000s increased along with men.  men cheat (generalized of course) in search for sex and unfaithful men often are as happy as a faithful man in a relationship  meanwhile women who cheat do it more for emotional purposes that are not provided by their husbands, leading them to be more distressed when cheating.  I read in the book an old lady had lived he whole life believing her husband was faithful, but it was not until he had passed away that she found out she was not the only woman her husband was seeing.

Well, common and normal are synonyms. And we all know that hypergamy is a real thing. And we all know that married women don't put out for their husbands. And we all know that a sexless marriage usually results in the husband going and finding what he can on the side. So, I guess if you call that cheating then cheating is normal.

Normal yes as a good amount of people do it, good or moral, no. Not everyone cheats anyway. We just pay too much attention to the idiots who do cheat so we get the impression a lot more people do it than it's actually true.

Sadly it's like it's become the norm in this day and age. I've had it happen to me twice and to be honest I feel like why not jump on the bandwagon if I ever get bored in a relationship now, but then I think, I'm better than that.

Common doesn't mean it's normal. I personally don't believe cheating is anyhow acceptable and is a complete deal breaker. Other thing is that women and men seem to have different reasons that push them to cheat.
