Why do women love those cheesy romance novels?

different people like different things. many women like romance. you usually like to read what you're interested in. also reading can take to places youve never been or make you feel something you lack, so romance novels supplement the lack of romance. many men just are not romantic at all, so women read these novels to fill that need. they would rather read about it than not have it in their lives at all. one of my friends moms is into romance novels now, and her husband is a complete asshole. So I totally understand why she reads them. also some of them are very sexual, so instead of getting something blatant like erotica they buy romance novels and fantasize about what they are probably also lacking in that department as well.

i don't read romance novels much, if at all. I like love stories, but not stories where the main plot is love or stories that are categorized as "romance novels."

i personally don't get why people like sci fi novels. I don't like them. that doesn't mean other people don't see the appeal.

Women aren't asexual, contrary to stereotypes by men. Women simply prefer sex and love to be intertwined. So romance novels are basically p*rn with a romantic story. And they are pretty darn smutty.

I don't read romance novels though...because I think the quality of writing is really poor. If someone wrote a romance novel actually worth reading, I'd read it.

now lets flip the question around: why do men watch p*rn? Why don't you guys want a nice romantic story with likable characters in your smut?

we do like romantic stories...but we often see that's not reality the whole romance thing that happens to must of as as we see it on TV and movie. so that's like not reality to most guys. the whole p*rn thing believe it or not has very little to do with nudity and hot naked girls, but more of a turn on because the girls don't play games and make a guy wine and dine them to have sex. its just like they want fo f#ck the guy too and get right to it without head games and guys love that attitude

Well there you go. Women LIKE the wine and dine aspect which is why romance novels are popular with women. it's called ROMANCE novels and not PORN novels for a reason.

It's not that women play mind games with guys. Its that even if she's interested, she wants to know if he's worth her time. Women will fall out of love if the guy just doesn't seem compatible. romance novel guys are almost always perfect (handsome, hard working, attentive)

porn is very similar here. real sex and real women rarely ever resemble anything typical in a lot of p*rn. especially when you get into things like rape roleplay, gangbangs, etc. many women aren't going to act on that in real life. some will, sure, but many wont. so there is a fantasy aspect there that takes men away from reality. same with these video games like Madden. its all fantasy, playing a role.if you indulge in fantasy then why can't women like fantasy too? its not hard to understand.

I read in a magazine the real reason women love romance novels is because they cater to our subconscious desires for love/romance/protection/stability/etc. I also read, in the same article, that the reason women are so attracted to cheesy romance novels is because of the title of the novels. They have names that also cater to our subconscious desires.

The fact they indulge in these fantasies just proves they aren't interested in real romance.

Lmfao, Fabio with rock hard abs and completely oiled up.. I always see them everywhere, or when I go to pick out cards in Walmart, there's always some older woman eyeing them and reading the back cover. It's not really appealing to me, might be if I pick one up to read but its not my thing. I like to actually sit down with a man then some book.

I do not usually read them, but they ALWAYS end up sappy and romantic with a happily ever after. That's what most girls want, so they will read those books.

Think of it like the girls dirty pictures. Guys are very appealed by visual things while women are very appealed by emotional things.
