How many times in a row would you initiate a conversation before expecting them to do the same?

It depends: If they're at least responding in ways that allow me to continue building the conversation, I'll keep starting it. But the moment they stop by either take a long time to reply (with messages), give a short/simple response, or don't answer some questions), I'll stop writing/talking and wait for them to initiate. At that point I'd feel the relationship is too one-sided. If they never initiate after this, my silence will turn to ghosting. This is the only time I ghost someone.

Well, since we're increasingly-aware of sexual assault and harassment, the REAL question to be asking is "how many times can conversation be initiated, before the person of interest starts to feel stalked or uncomfortable?" If it's less than or equal to one, you better do it right the first time or just not bother at all.

It's never happened to me with anyone that I am always the one that has to start a conversation all the time, usually it's about equal so I never think of that.

I am guessing three times would be my maximum if it was someone new, but if they seemed very uninterested after first conversation (short answers, never asking anything, answering with emojis only etc) then I'd be out after that one conversation.

Don't get me wrong, I love shy people, but I really don't get into them as close friends very often.

Like your question is insinuating, I like people I can interact with, and not have it be like I am talking to myself, I do enough of that already anyway... lol

Voted 2-3 times. But it depends. If it's a shy person maybe more. If talkative and social I would know quickly if they are worth the effort.

You should initiate once.. In that conversation you will get to know that your opponent is happy to talk to you or just ignoring you. Wait for his message next time You shouldn't initiate always. And take care that you should initiate alternately. One step u go one step he should come.. This is way to deal with self respect and love too
