Why did my boyfriend say I'm boring?

So we both were just talking on the phone since it's corona time , it's been a while since we met.. so he was just telling me that , he is planning to start a youtube channel, then I said "ok'" then, he said "you should capture some videos etc etc " But I'm someone who is really not interested in these kind of stuff. I'm more interested in academics. So, I told him it's better to study during this time rather than wasting time on YouTube
Then , he suddenly said I'm boring and I don't have a talent for imagination. What does it mean if he thinks I'm boring? I couldn't bear it and I called him out for saying I'm boring... then he said he didn't mean it. I don't know I was very hurt.
Would you tell your significant other that he /she is boring if they suggests you to study well?

Well you see, you weren't trying to be bad intentionally, but it came off as too bad. Your boyfriend must be really fond of youtube content creators, and must have been all pumped and enthusiastic about being one. This though makes him real happy, he gets 100% devoted to it, talking to people close to him about it. And then one of the person who thought was closest to him, just picks up all that devotion and all that excitement and throw it in a bin. LIKE SERIOUSLY? I HAVE BEEN WORKING SO HARD FOR THIS THING, AND THEY JUST THINK ITS A WASTE OF TIME. It blows their mind, not intentionally, but just in the heat of the moment.

Think about it like this. You saw an awesome dress on an online store. You think you will look really cute in it and your boyfriend would go all bonkers when he says you in it. On your next date, you decide to wear the dress, imagining all the surprised reaction you are gonna get. But then your boyfriend sees you, and he is like what is this shit you are wearing, looks so cheap. How would you feel?
