I cheated on my boyfriend with his best friend of 14years and yet he forgives us both right away?

Question

I had a party at my place and by the end of the night it was only me and my boyfriend's best friend sitting in my sitting room.

He started talking to me about how I deserve better than the guy I have (even though they are best friends) He told that he would not be faithful to me, that I would end up abused and hurt and that I should be with someone better.

I took all he said on board and right when I was about to cry he leaned over and kissed me, we ended up having sex and then he left..

I told my boyfriend almost, right away over facebook messenger.

He unfriended me on facebook and told me that what me and his best friend did was horrible and that we had broken him apart.

I apologized and said that there was nothing I could do, it's happened.

Then he just said "I don't want us to end, let's work this out".

He came over and told me he would forget it ever happened, his best friend came over to my house to talk about what had happened with us at the same time, so, then my boyfriend was able to talk to his best friend about it and my boyfriend forgave him right away.

My question is ; Would you have forgiven so easily? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would not have forgiven at all, ever. Cheating on your partner is the ultimate act of betrayal and disrespect. It is unforgivable. To me, it means the following:
- You had checked out of the relationship and were only still in it for some superficial reason.
- Whatever your boyfriend's (fake) friend said about you deserving better has been completely reversed by your actions. It turns out that he (your boyfriend) is the one who deserves (deserved) better than someone who would betray him like that. The fact that he is willing to forgive proves even more how much better he deserves than both of you in his life.
- Instead of talking with your boyfriend about any concerns you had in the relationship, it made a lot more sense to you to betray him and his love for you; clearly showing that you lack the basic maturity to be in a relationship.
- You have no qualms about cheating, and will likely do it again while with him, or with future partners. This is even more likely because you've exhibited a tendency to listen to, and prioritize the opinions of insignificant people rather than yours and your partner's.

Cheating is unforgivable and selfish because it is never an accident. A cheater has so many chances to stop things from getting out of hand, or end their current relationship before moving to the next one, but they have so much disrespect for their current partner, that they don't mind betraying them for whatever short-term bliss /high they get from it. That or they are so selfish that they want the best of both worlds; the security of a relationship and the freedom of being single. Disgusting!

Well you did did a horrible thing. Believe me, he may have forgave you but didn't forget. He won't forget it ever till his death. You need to leave him by saying you don't deserve him. He would be over possessed if you two continue the relationship. The very thing that sustains the relationship : the trust has been broken. It would be painful for you as well as him in the future if you guys continue. Leave him as well as the best friend. No strings attached. Its not end of life, you can make new relationships.

Moral: Never sleep with a boyfriend's bestfriend.

Another scenario: Its more likely, that your boyfriend eventually distances himself from his bestfriend. If you think, that bestfriend guy is worth dating, give it a shot after sometime. It feels rude but you don't owe your life to anyone.
