Why does a man feel the need to call a woman derogatory names?

Almost every time my boyfriend and I have an argument, he calls me names like stupid bitch, chicken head, and sometimes ****. If he loves me like he says he does, how can he allow himself to call me names like that? :(

Look i agree all the time is to much... im very guilty of this to... I've done it and im more than unhappy with myself to say the least. but to say that ALL men think being a woman is degrading so it's natural to call women degrading names. Thats insane. i dont think like that. In my case i can't compete with her during a fight she's to smart for me... says things like you a pathetic excuse for a human being. at that point names is all i got... how can you compete with that? she says 1 sentance that shatters my world. and i say stuff that i dont mean AT ALL. Again i dont mean it at all! she's the farthist thing from a hor and names like that. I dont do it all the time. we just been together for a month and bumped heads... we got way to close to fast and she got scared of what we had and still wanted to go on some dates and i lost my mind... sorry but i did... i paniked and now she's gone. maybe you should teach him a lesson. do the NO CONTACT thing for a while... we hate that... teach him a lesson

She is doing the no contact thing to me right now for calling her bad names and its killing me... do the same thing... believe me it will kill him... he will be very sad... it will kick his ass dont listen to all that never forget stuff cause forgivness is important too but after NO contact for a month and you take him back and he does it again than employ what all the women say... im done

Well if you are having an argument obviously he is angry. We all say stuff we don't really mean when we are flustered and angry in an argument. If he called you names like that in general speech that would be another problem.

Why in the world do you tolerate that? Tell him it's unacceptable for him to say things like that to you, and hurtful too, even if you're having an argument. I understand tempers fly, and often people say things they don't mean, but every single time? I mean, that's not something you do as well, right? Calling names doesn't solve anything. He should be more open to discussing problems between you guys rationally, and with some civility at the very least.

VERBAL ABUSE. Some people aren't mature enough to have an adult argument without resorting to abusive name calling. Leave him. He has 0 respect for you and if you stay it's not gonna stop. Don't you think you deserve better? There are guys who do not do that during arguments, find one of them and drop this loser.

lol at chickenhead.. Some people can't control what they say when they're angry. Maybe you should let him know that it really hurts you when he calls you those things.
