Okay, I was just curious because I know for example, my parents have broken up a few times but they always gotten back together but I think they only stay together because they have 3 children together. I can understand if people are on and off with children involved but when they don’t have kids, I don’t see why they keep going back. There’s so many people in the world, why go back to the same shitty person?

Codependency and, honestly, you'd be surprised how much toxicity can glue some people together. Some people, without knowing it, are pretty much always attracted to the same type of toxic behaviors and they can't help it unless they work deeply on themselves. Think of it as a drug : they know it's bad, it feels bad, but they keep coming back to it.
