He uses love a lot, but doesn't say he love me. weird?

I have been dating this guy for about 5 months and recently when we talk, he's been using the word love, but he hasn't said he loves me. some examples are when I was making fun of him, just playing around, he said, ahh, I love you too. also, we were talking about something and I asked him if he would still date me if I shaved my hair. he said, something funny, and followed with, but I would still love you.

is this weird, is he afraid to say he loves me? I don't know how I feel yet. or, is he just comfortable using the term around me?

maybe he's trying to play around with the word, seeing how you react. maybe he's not 100% comfortable, or he really wants you to say it back, and he's waiting till he's sure. a lot of guys are insecure.
