Why do cheaters cry when they get caught?

It's instinctual just like when a kid does something bad is being yelled at he cries even though he's the one in the wrong.

The thing is crying in these situations is defense mechanism, your minds think that by showing regret to the point of tears you can appease the agree person confronting us with the truth.

Granted that doesn't always work, it's still just something people do

crying is a very primal response, reaction, to emotional and stressful situations, so that's why, getting caught will trigger a few emotions, not just crying, so it could be an "honest" reaction or also... "crocodile tears" the insincere kind of tears that could be part of their manipulative/cheating ways

Because they are sad about being caught, and they are afraid they may be forced to accept consequences for their conduct.

People cheat and they always regret it after they get caught. Sometimes they cry because they have just ruined two lives and maybe more.
