Can someone please tell me the reality of a normal relationship?

I feel like all I know is from books and TV. I know it isn’t a fairytale. Please can someone give me an honest description of a long term relationship, the good and bad not just one side. I don’t want to be naive

The reality of a normal relationship with somebody our friendship is one that is so off the wall that is so unnormal one that you know each other so well that you can laugh at each other tell a joke about each other one that you will be there for that person when where you can say whatever you want to say to that person because you like them you love them and your friends I have some very very good friends is anything but normal relationship or bond that we have because I don't want to be normal I don't want to be like everybody else I like to laugh if I see that you're doing something wrong or something stupid I'm going to tell you and you're going to be pissed off for a moment but that's just the way it is cuz that's what I expect back normal is everything that is not normal but with a true Bond

The good is having someone consistently there for you. The bad is that their help doesn't feel the same as the start.

The good is having multiple incomes (possibly). The bad is caring for two humans.

The good is creating a space where you're never alone. The bad is you are never alone.

The good is you don't focus on other people but yourself and your partner. The bad, objectively, is that you won't have as much time for other people.

Some relationships can be like books, majority aren't. If you find a like-minded individual, then you'll be living with your best friend, arguing with your best friend, fucking your best friend, and oh so much more. Even after bad days and wanting to kill your partner, you'll love them. That's what makes a long term relationship worth it.

Well said! I think, though, that most relationships ARE like books, it's just a question of WHICH book. Some are like Tom Sawyer, some are like Huckleberry Finn. And some are like Tom Sawyer, Detective, which I don't think anyone else knows exists.

I don’y know if ours is normal. We have had many ups and downs. I would encourage you to work through disagreements with your SO with a level head and taking into account the other’s perspective. It is rarely all one person and not the other. Apologize for your piece and make peace and move on.

You should also enjoy each others company. Enjoy doing fun things together. Enjoy cuddling with each other. You should miss each other when you are apart.

A normal relationship relationship is when one doesn't consume the presence of the other where that person can no longer be the individual they were prior to. All relationships are for different reasons, but ultimately its because interacting with that person compliments some aspect of in your life. Just as you time shared compliments there life. When ones life begins being consumed at such a level that who they were is gone, thats a time to end relationship.

It's impossible for anyone to tell you what a normal relationship is. Normalcy differs from one person to another.. what might be normal to you can be totally outrageously fucked up to someone else..

Find out what you want from a person and what you would want in a relationship and what makes you happy. That would be YOUR normal.

Well you have someone to care about and someone that cares for you, spending a lot of time together, but there's always arguments of course, risks of a broken heart and most likely less time for yourself

why would you think anyone knows what normal is, each person has their likes and dislikes. Is normal abiding by society's norms and having a boyfriend your parents want? Having to be the way others want you to be? Instead of being the way you want.
