What do women do or how they behave when they love a guy and know that they cannot have him?

Most women (not all), aren't like most men... I've noticed men tend to back off if the girl makes it clear she's in a happy relationship and doesn't want to consider anyone else. Women on the other hand, if they see he's in a relationship or not available for other reasons they will continue to keep contact with him and will disguise it as a "friend". Which is why sometimes when relationships are failing, the man will vent to someone and pretty often it's that female friend because they want a woman's perspective. During the process of venting, the girl sees that as an opportunity to get closer to him and eventually take him. The only way this doesn't happen is if a guy tells the girl... hey, I'm in a happy relationship and you need to back off 😠😒 but it very rarely goes down like that.

I would tell him how I feel about him then leave and cut off contact completely so that I can move on. I had to tell him about my feelings so that I can walk away without regret.
