  I just never saw money as a factor or some kind of competition.
  
  For example, in the pasty wife has needed money for things.. She use to say "I will pay you back" I put a stop to that. If I couldn't afford it I might say we can't right now.. But beyond that my job is to take care of her. Couples that keep a running tally of who owes what are doomed to failure.
