boyfriend and I are planning to move in together. His mattress is super comfy, so I asked if we would take his mattress to our new place. He confessed that the mattress used to belong to his ex. She gave it to him when they broke up and she moved away.

Look at it this way, as long as it's comfy, mattresses have to be replaced over time, can just ride it out until having to replace it.
