There's no hard and fast "when." Usually when someone has been awful to you repeatedly and for no rational reason other than they're just too fucked up, and it dawns on you, that's the time.

On the flip side, a person who was just a friend or acquaintance can become more than that by a kindness, a great story, a funny joke, an invitation to coffee, dinner at their house, a day at the Farmer's Market.

Both are accumulations of the good, bad and ugly. It's a matter of degree in either case. You have to be the judge as to the when.

That’s rare. People that rub us the wrong way tend to so the same every time we are around them. Every once in a while there is a trigger, something said/shared that sheds light as to the why of behavior. That has in the past changed my mind.

There was someone from college everyone thought was so sweet & kind but when she made a derogatory remark on another person saying "they have the right to die" I thought of her as really weird after that. Someone who acts so nice snapped. Because the person she was taking about didn't do anything wrong to her that seemed even more strange. She said it for no good reason & didn't know the person enough to say such a thing. After that I try my best to stay away. I don't want want be her next target. Lol
