What do you have to gain by stirring the pot and complicating so many people's lives? Respect their relationship and create a respectful relationship of your own with someone who is available?

This sounds like human traffickers whose goal is to convince empty, disillusioned kids how they will fill the void within them... and then they turn them into drug addicts and prostitutes. Life is not about you and your sense of entitlement; it's about showing respect for the earth and all who live on it. You'll never get respect if you don't give it.

It depends, are you like best friends and have been for a very long time? Or is this just some random guy in relationship?

I've let a long time friend I knew that I had feelings, that I loved him dearly as a friend and maybe someday we could try going beyond that.

The reason I did was cause he would become single, I'd try to wait for rebound to end. Didn't want to jump in right away, but he'd find someone new before then, or I wasn't single when he was single.

Finally I just let him know, that I've have feelings for him, but its okay. We've known each other for years and years and if he doesn't feel that way, it is okay. He said he saw me as a great friend and loved me that way but not more.

We managed to stay friends afterwards, but it didn't break my heart. It was more to keep me from regretting never taking a chance.

I would only do that in this situation, never any other. No point. Generally not worth it.

Well no, not if you can help it. I did this a few times, and I've had different results, but I never ended up with the guy. It's simple if he wants you he'll end that relationship, and go after you. Without you having to express your feelings, if there's really something between you two. If he doesn't like you, and you tell him how you feelings say goodbye to whatever you guys were, because I doubt he'll even talk too you again.

In rare occasions, he might reciprocate, but don't think you'll be riding off into the sunset together, because feelings can so easily be ignored. Especially if your already in a committed relationship with someone else.

Best advice I can give is to either to just shoot your shot now, or wait till she's out of the picture. You might avoid a cat fight if you choose the second option.

I say be honest. No sense dragging on a friendship that only makes you feel resentfully hopeful that someday it'll work. He probably already has some idea or guess that you do. Im married and i broke off a friendship with a girl I knew for years, simply because I had feelings for her and its wasn't right. Its hard, but i think it helps people move on. Be prepared to be heartbroken.
