Is it normal I’ve never received flowers in my life?

I’m 24 years old and I have never received flowers in my life from a man! I have given gifts but never received anything in return. I know we don’t gift to receive but once in a while it would be nice 🥲 I’m feeling so sad over this. Sorry if it come across silly but has anyone else been in the same position?

If it's affecting your self esteem or your self worth, it's a problem easily cured by not giving a damn.

You're worthy. You're a good person. You know that. You can't help that others don't see it, but gifts don't mean love, respect, or that someone values you.

That said, don't let others gift giving, or lack thereof, get you down. Some just don't think about it. Some like me, despise the commercialism of it all and want to, but don't, boycott all holidays/special occasions.

I buy for kids. I buy for close adults on Christmas. I buy for the one I love on Christmas and birthday. The rest... nope. I set the precedent that I won't buy for the aforementioned reason. There's no expectation on their part and no guilt for not on my part.

People are lucky they get what they get, cause if I had it my way, I'd keep my money. I do enough nice things all year long because that's how I am. Why should I be guilted into, or forced by convention, or expectation to DO something?

I don't want or expect anything, from anyone, ever. I wouldn't impose that on someone. I'd prefer you keep your money and spend it on yourself. That's my gift.

I only got flowers for a girlfriend one time in my life and it's because she made a point of it. She liked these white flowers so much and kept saying how much she liked them. I forgot the name but they were white flowers and they had a fancy name. It wasn't a simple one like roses that you can remember but something you really had to work hard and keep saying over and over to remember. But she made a point of it and so I got it once for her on Valentine's because she told me like 5 days before and I kept saying the name of the flowers in my head.

I think it's an empathy disconnect thing. Like the last thing I'd ever want in my life is flowers. So maybe it doesn't occur to us so much to buy flowers. I don't understand what they're supposed to do. Can't eat them, can't keep them, can't use them as tools, can't play with them. So the way women love flowers is something I forget about a lot because I don't get it.

I expanded my garden last year because of the pandemic. I would put out bags of fresh vegetables on the wall by the sidewalk at the end of my driveway every day.

After I put out the last bags before the frost hit a women dropped off flowers at my house with a thank you card.

If you are giving but not receiving then you are giving too much too soon, or you are dating the wrong men.

It’s fine to say after some weeks of dating that you would like to be given flowers some time, if you are at the supermarket you might buy some for yourself so that he knows what you like.

I assume you know that flowers from a flower shop can be quite expensive, like $6-10/stem for roses.

I think a lot of guys don't feel compelled to give them anymore. Which is too bad. When I had rose bushes. When a girl came over. I'd go out and find a nice one to give to her. As they were bursting with roses every year.

I have given flowers I like to do it out of the blue so It's a big surprise when you find a grown up man, he will give you flowers
