u +1 y1. The most obvious issue is biological capacity to bear healthy children, and that starts declining beyod age 40 for most women.
2. Are you financially and emotionally ready for children at a younger age?
3. How many children do you want to have and hw far apart do you want them?
4. How old do you want to be when your youngest child finishes college?
5. How old do you want to be when you become a grandmother?
6. Do you have any medical conditions, or does your family have any conditions which you may later develop, which would negatively impact your ability to be an involved parent for your children?
These are just a few of the questions that you must address before answering the question you posed, and the answer is not the same for everyone.20 Reply

How will they feel when everyone assumes you are their grandmother? You can adopt or foster at any age, but will you be there for them when they need you?
Unfortunately, too many people focus on having kids as something they want to do to make themselves whole. By choosing to be a parent, you're taking on responsibility for at least the next 20 years, and maybe those kids would like grandparents for their kids. If you feel you can provide them a stable basis upon which to grow and help them to believe in themselves and feel confident, productive and worthwhile, then consider having kids. If it's just for you, don't have kids. Just play with other people's kids. If you choose to be a parent, learn all you can about healthy parenting before any kid comes into the picture. Don't just be a reaction to your upbringing.11 Reply

+1 yThere is no limit on when you can get married. And although it becomes riskier the older you get, I know plenty of women who had children later in life. All that "it's selfish because you won't be around for your kid" nonsense is dumb. You could be a 25year old mother and be gone tomorrow. And you could be have a child at 40 and give them a full life. I don't know why y'all think people become old and decrepit after 30. So dumb

+1 yI find questions like this entertaining as historically women were having children before their teens and often done by 30, now it has shifted a decade to be 40 is sort of the cut-off.
I have a few ancestors who had four children before they were even 20.
As old as anyone can think about doing it and it is their own personal choice.00 Reply

Yeah, no. You had your kids young obviously. Some women aren't as fortunate.
- +1 y
@ShaTTeredMasterpeace had my 3rd baby 2 months ago and the doctors during delivery kept calling me old even tho I'm only 25 but to them 25 starts hitting the age where risks increase. 30-35 risk are even higher. Past that point it's a very high risk things could go wrong so it's not worth it to have a baby that late.
- +1 y
It is to women that have been trying since your age. So I'll agree to disagree.
A woman is never too old to get married, but having kids, that is different, your body and nature will make the decisions for you. Menopause and high risk (geriatric) pregnancy starts at around 35. However, many factors can push up or down that age. Better nutrition and hygiene has raise the age, but stress and bad lifestyle choices also reduce it.
00 Replytoo old to get married is mid/late 30s in my opinion but it depends from person to person. for having kids too late is 40s because the older your age is, the more your ability to give birth will decrease (might as well hit the menopause), may become risky too. just my opinion tho

Anonymous(36-45)+1 y40. You have to think about the kids. If you have kids at 40, you'll be 55 when they're in high school. You'll be 70 when they're 30, and they may be faced with having to care for you. Kids deserve younger parents who can keep up with them and not be in their golden years when the kids are just getting going.

+1 yafter 40, perhaps 35 for some women. Fact is that by the time a woman is in the 24-30 age range. she needs to marry and have kids. those are her prime child bearing and raising years. Also many men will not want a older wife and young child in there 40's. its just the natural order of things.
00 Replyi think marriage is fine any time in your life. and to have a child, around 20 is the perfect age physically. although mentally, each person is ready for a child at a different point in their life even though some are never ready to be a good parent.

But I have just done a simple survey within my female workmates and all are saying by 25 it is better for women to have kids and a better choice since reaching mid thirties ain't no joke to be delivering till in 40's.00 Reply

My mother was 45 when I was born, and the Guiness World Records for oldest natural birth is 59 (with a csection).
45 used to be the age where having kids is a definite risk, but Medicine has evolved.
Also some women reach menopause only in their fifties.
As for marridge, I've heard of octagenarians getting married and still having a sex life so... 😄 - +1 y
@MAC1983
A woman can conceive naturally up until 40.
Usually after 40, naturally conceived pregnancies are rare. Usually women after 40 need IVF treatments in order to conceive
But if you want to give your kid a decent childhood Ans also give yourself an easier life raising kids , I highly do not recommend having kids after 40. I was raised by parents who had me at 37 and my brother at 40. My top complaint was old parents simply do not know how to play , relate or connect to their children as well as younger parents. Their youthful sense of humor is gone. Their mischievousness is gone. It’s much much harder for old parents to relate or understand to how a child or a teenager thinks.
Another reason why I don’t recommend it is because there is a very good chance you will be struggling to work beyond retirement age to support your kids in college. My parents too complaint was “I’m already old and my kids are still super young Ans not anywhere near grown”. It’s also a harder job being a parent as someone who is older compared to someone who is younger,
- +1 y
I know of a guy who had a kid at 50. What kind of childhood is this kid gonna have? By the time he’s 8-10 years old, he’s not gonna have a dad that’s gonna be able to teach him how to ride a bike , or go hiking with him or be active with him. As a parent ages , their energy level goes down , they might not even be able to keep up with the rigors of parenting. They’ll probably do the bare minimum because they can’t exert themselves too much.
By the time your kid is 18, their father is a grandpa. And how are you gonna support your kid to college if you’re 68? Will your employer still keep you at the job? Would you still be mentally or physically competent to keep your job?
How much longer will you be around for your child? - +1 y
Well, my father was 51 when I was born. So, when I was 18 he was 69.
You have to stop thinking in absolutes. I'll tell you why.
I have two older brothers, by 20 years, and my father was strongest than any of us then.
He is still working for himself and the family and only really slowed down when he had a work accident and ripped both his shoulder muscles 7 years ago, at 83, and only began having trouble climbing long stairs at 87 or so
The strenghts and weaknesses of a parent are not predetermined by their age. The experience is different, and that is all.
I don't want to bother you, so I'll just leave you with that... - +1 y
@MAC1983
Are most 83 yr olds still working? I don’t think so. Average life span is 78. Most people are retired by 60-62. And if your father is 83 and still working , it’s likely he doesn’t work a very physical job. I know of a 55 yr old man with a 5 yr old daughter who works in maintenance which is a very physical job. It’s likely that he won’t be able to support his kid through college
Rare exceptions do exist but I still wouldn’t recommend old parents. You just turned out lucky but there could have a been a lot of things that went wrong.

Why insult single moms, they didn't become that way by themselves, but never no insult to the losers who abandon their children smh
- +1 y
@Brainsbeforebeauty It’s a woman’s body. The man has no rights to it, and woman own the child/men pay child support. Court will take moms side in custody 99% of the time. If you don’t want child, don’t give yourself to man unless you love them and want baby with them. There are so many forms of contraception as well.
- +1 y
It's your penis if you don't want to knock up a female or pay child support, wrap your willy...
- +1 y
@Brainsbeforebeauty that’s true, but men don’t care. They will knock up a girl if they can. The woman is in control of everything. It’s up to her if she’s ok with getting raw dogged or not. Both have a responsibility, but law places women in power.
- +1 y
It's up to you not to raw dog and then no law, no child support, cuz no child... Why do some guys think their wanting to have sex raw is something they're entitled to and also something they shouldn't be held accountable for if it results in pregnancy.. Yes she didn't stop you from going in raw, but she didn't force you to either. Why should just the woman be responsible for the poor choices BOTH made?
- +1 y
@Brainsbeforebeauty Both have responsibilities of course, however the law gives woman ALL the power when it comes to anything dealing with the child. If the woman wants an abortion even if the father is ready to support and pay, he has ZERO say in anything. If he doesn’t want the child and she does, he has ZERO say in whether the child lives or dies. The girl has ALL the power, and the man bears the blunt of financial responsibility even if he didn’t wants the child. Not to mention consent laws. Therefore I believe women should hold more responsibility with their body since the law gives them all this power. That’s just my opinion. If we are gonna both share equal responsibility, then men shouldn’t have to pay child support, and should have a say in abortion.
- +1 y
Why shouldn't men have to pay child support? Men have all the power not to impregnate someone in the first place is the point you're missing..
And this thread is what prompted this post
Does anyone else feel it's time for men to step up and take responsibility for birth control? ↗ - +1 y
@Brainsbeforebeauty It’s not their body, they don’t own the child. And if they don’t want the child, and the girl refused to use contraception or day after pill or abortion, then it’s not really equal is it?
- +1 y
It's not your penis? It's not your choice to keep it in your pants? Or wrap it? Or get a vasectomy? You're STILL missing the point, don't have raw sex with a woman when you know it could result in a pregnancy and use that weak ass excuse it's her body to absolve yourself of any responsibility... Why do you think the courts got involved in the first place... Because men thought they could knock women up and then walk away Scott free without any responsibility for it
- +1 y
@Brainsbeforebeauty So you agree with the court making men responsible? Then you are in agreement with the new abortion laws taking place then? by the way, im not raw dogging anyone. Girls spread their legs to random men who don’t have any plans for a future, they WILL choose sexual satisfaction and raw dog if girls let them. Lots of girls are promiscuous, and will have sex with strangers, then they better protect themselves and force him to use a condom, because men don’t care and WANT to get girls pregnant. It’s in their nature.
- +1 y
I agree that repeated abortions as a form of birth control should be stopped, yes! In cases of rape or incest, or health risks to the woman that could result in death of the pregnancy continues, then abortion should be allowed... Why would any man or woman choose abortion as a means of birth control, when there's other options available.. And I also agree that women should better protect themselves.. But men should either, or stop whining when there's consequences when they choose not to... So you say, men want to get women pregnant, it's in their nature? So why then should they think they shouldn't have to pay the price for it and women or children should? See here's where we disagree.. Some men use that "it's in their nature" Bs to excuse any negative behavior they don't wanna take responsibility for smh
