The question isn't what works for you, but what works for the kids. Will you be able to keep up with them? How will they feel when everyone assumes you are their grandmother? You can adopt or foster at any age, but will you be there for them when they need you?

Unfortunately, too many people focus on having kids as something they want to do to make themselves whole. By choosing to be a parent, you're taking on responsibility for at least the next 20 years, and maybe those kids would like grandparents for their kids. If you feel you can provide them a stable basis upon which to grow and help them to believe in themselves and feel confident, productive and worthwhile, then consider having kids. If it's just for you, don't have kids. Just play with other people's kids. If you choose to be a parent, learn all you can about healthy parenting before any kid comes into the picture. Don't just be a reaction to your upbringing.

1. The most obvious issue is biological capacity to bear healthy children, and that starts declining beyod age 40 for most women.

2. Are you financially and emotionally ready for children at a younger age?

3. How many children do you want to have and hw far apart do you want them?

4. How old do you want to be when your youngest child finishes college?

5. How old do you want to be when you become a grandmother?

6. Do you have any medical conditions, or does your family have any conditions which you may later develop, which would negatively impact your ability to be an involved parent for your children?

These are just a few of the questions that you must address before answering the question you posed, and the answer is not the same for everyone.

There is no limit on when you can get married. And although it becomes riskier the older you get, I know plenty of women who had children later in life. All that "it's selfish because you won't be around for your kid" nonsense is dumb. You could be a 25year old mother and be gone tomorrow. And you could be have a child at 40 and give them a full life. I don't know why y'all think people become old and decrepit after 30. So dumb

I find questions like this entertaining as historically women were having children before their teens and often done by 30, now it has shifted a decade to be 40 is sort of the cut-off.

I have a few ancestors who had four children before they were even 20.

As old as anyone can think about doing it and it is their own personal choice.

A woman is never too old to get married, but having kids, that is different, your body and nature will make the decisions for you. Menopause and high risk (geriatric) pregnancy starts at around 35. However, many factors can push up or down that age. Better nutrition and hygiene has raise the age, but stress and bad lifestyle choices also reduce it.

too old to get married is mid/late 30s in my opinion but it depends from person to person. for having kids too late is 40s because the older your age is, the more your ability to give birth will decrease (might as well hit the menopause), may become risky too. just my opinion tho

40. You have to think about the kids. If you have kids at 40, you'll be 55 when they're in high school. You'll be 70 when they're 30, and they may be faced with having to care for you. Kids deserve younger parents who can keep up with them and not be in their golden years when the kids are just getting going.

after 40, perhaps 35 for some women. Fact is that by the time a woman is in the 24-30 age range. she needs to marry and have kids. those are her prime child bearing and raising years. Also many men will not want a older wife and young child in there 40's. its just the natural order of things.

i think marriage is fine any time in your life. and to have a child, around 20 is the perfect age physically. although mentally, each person is ready for a child at a different point in their life even though some are never ready to be a good parent.

My mum married at 40 and had two kids in mid forties. Didn’t go into menopause until mid fifties. If I turn out the same I’d be horny and on birth control for at least another 12 years. I usually have lots of energy if accidents happened. 🙃

For a woman once you reach 35 of age you better be having kids even if not married in my opinion. Guess because of the responsibilitiesl ol.

But I have just done a simple survey within my female workmates and all are saying by 25 it is better for women to have kids and a better choice since reaching mid thirties ain't no joke to be delivering till in 40's.

There is no age when it's too old to get married, it just gets much harder for a woman after about age 30. Having kids after age 35 begins to get more risky. here's some good info...

I got married and had my first child at 40 and had my twins at 42. All my kids are healthy.  I know it's not usual and there are higher risks involved, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
