My boyfriend had a Freudian slip and called me his friend instead of his girlfriend in front of my mom. What do you think this could mean?

My boyfriend (sons father) had a Freudian Slip & called me his friend instead of his girlfriend in front of my mom. He swears it was an accident, but I feel like he was subconsciously thinking of me as a friend at the time that he said it. This worries me a lot and makes me question whether or not he’s really in love with me like he claims to be. We got into an argument a couple months ago and he left for two months, as soon as he left he started talking to an excessive amount of females and slept with one that I know of. He continues to say it meant nothing and he was hurt, , but I don’t understand how you could move on that fast or even have a desire to if you’re genuinely in love with someone? He didn’t ask how our 10 month old son was or our 4 year old son (not biologically his) was once over the course of the two months that he was gone, but made the time to talk to females and drank almost every night. He flat out told me after leaving that he had one son and it was the 10 month old thats biologically his. He completely disowned my 4 year old that he fathered for 3 years although he had him calling him “dad” and claimed to love him as his own. We’re young (21) and he’s (22) so I believe it may have something to do with his maturity level, or a lack of understanding of what love truly is due to this being his first serious relationship. I want this relationship to work out, because I do genuinely love him and we have kids together now. I just don’t want to keep exposing the kids to him and subjecting them to getting emotionally hurt again if his intentions aren’t there and he leaves a second time. I don’t give up on someone very easily because of the strong beliefs / morals I have and will stop at almost nothing to attempt to save a relationship before walking away, but he’s hurt me many times in the past prior to this and i really question a lot now. He’s acted different since coming back and continues to say nothings wrong. I don’t know what to think anymore.

The worst boyfriend I seen still sounds better than him. I'd say why would you get him in the 1st place but then a 21 year old with 2 kids is going to be difficult to find a decent man or any man unless you look hard

I'll assume you treat your kids as 1st and most important, so after that find a good single dad but don't make him a boyfriend unless you really get to know him and now he will be good to you

My main concern is his responsibility as a parent. I address this daily. There’s times where he listens to the things I say, but there’s other times where it feels like it goes in one ear and out the other. He hasn’t had any experience with children prior to coming into my 4 year olds life so I’m trying to be understanding and help him where I can, I just feel like some of the concerns I address are common sense and don’t need to be drilled into someone’s head constantly for them to understand. Just seems like he doesn’t care. I may be wrong but his actions have proved a lot.

It came to a point where I started worrying about his well being. He was acting completely irrational and going off the edge.. i didn’t want him to end up on the side of the road in a ditch somewhere dead. I thought about my son and what he would have to go through if that were to have happened.
