What should I do when my best friend has a controlling girlfriend?

My best friends girlfriend won’t let him have any friends, she won’t even let him talk to his sister. She’s been abusive to him for years and he can’t see it. She’s even made up serious lies about me trying to drug her and rape her just to get him to not hang out with me. She’s given him an ultimatum to either choose me or her. We don’t even hang out much or live in the same state.
I’m super depressed about all of this because it looks like our friendship is over. What should I do?
