Is it normal to want alone time when you live with your partner?

My boyfriend and I moved in and we both like alone time aometimes and he likes to have time to himself some nights to watch the shows he likes etc, is that a good/common thing?

I can't speak for everyone but if the missus is watching a show that I don't care to watch then she's going to get alone time because I'm not going to watch it. Now if you enjoy watching the same program as him but he doesn't want you there while he's watching it, the question is why? Do you interrupt him while he's watching his program?

When my girlfriend and I live together I want us to have times to be alone or with friends that we don't share. We're both fine with the other watching what they want when we watch tv.
