Did I do anything wrong sending my boyfriend some money?

Soooo 🥰 my new boyfriend Adam opened up to me about a bad business deal his friends and him made previously and how an NGO has refused to pay them the money they owe so now they’re broke. This happens so often In Nigeria when people refuse to pay after a work is done both my parents are victims. He told me he was depressed about it but I made him happy 🥰 he was still cute taking me out to dates and getting me cupcakes 🥰 just basic things. Im conscious to not think or ask for expensive dates because I completely understand him 🥺 one time we went out and he left his card in his car accidentally so I paid for our groceries and he felt bad that he kept giving me his phone to put my account number in. it wasn’t a big deal so I gave him after our date and he refunded me with such a cute narration 🥰 yesterday he came to my college to see me and it was Amazing I missed him so much. We often call each other and that’s the most expensive part of our relationship. In Nigeria we don’t use phone plans you just call for a while it finished you buy more. So he kept telling he didn’t have money for his phone plan and we may not he talking as much🥺 so I sent him some money to cover for at least a month of our conversation. He kept scolding me well nicely that I shouldn’t be sending money to him because I’m in college and not working and he’s the one meant to care for me. But it wasn’t a big deal I like talking to him 🥺 well so I just telling him he’d do the same for me if I didn’t have anything so it wasn’t a big deal. But he didn’t like the idea so I told him to take it as a loan and he can pay me back whenever he has money so he agreed. I’m sure he’d pay me back even though I really don’t need him too
