Did you get along with your parent (s) when you were growing up? What kind of relationship did you guys have?

Growing up, I didn't get along with my father. I still don't.

I did. When I was super young and up to maybe the age 13, I got along with them well.


However, when I turned 13, I found out I was adopted and started going to high school, and I was just angry at the world and my parents. I didn’t get along with them or I was the “problem child” for maybe 3-4 years.


I get along with them now. I’m glad I do get along with them because I realized that they are all I have, when it comes to immediate family. I needed them and I want to remain on good terms with them.

Very good.
We speak quite often (mother and I).
I spoke with my dad regularly until he passed in 2018.
I was blessed with good parents. Imperfect, of course, but I never would have traded them for anyone.

I’ve always gotten along well with both of my parents. (Definitely a good thing when you’re still working on moving out. lol)

When I was one my parents got a divorce
My mom remarried when I was 2 when I was five came to visit and she told me that my dad was not my dad I freaked out I went and asked and he told me no he is my step dad from 5 to 10 he used to beat me with a belt so I didn't like him too muc
18 years old they got a divorce at 12 years old my mom got remarried and that guy put his hands on me one time and I told him never to do it again otherwise I would kick his ass because I didn't like to be hit anymore as I turned around I saw my mom looking at me and I saw the tears in her eyes so about two weeks later I decided to move I have a 16 and a half when this happen so I always got along with my mom but I left the house when I was 16 and a half I was wondering who I was and when I was 27 I met my real father and I didn't find out who I was but I found out who I didn't want to be so I kind of Raise Myself and I wouldn't change one thing it is made me who I am today and I really can't like this guy

I got along with them very well. Things became difficult when my dad drank heavily, which started around when I was 12 or so. My mother was abusive to my sister. She didn't know when to quit in terms of corporal punishment. However, my father recovered when I was 30 or so. Never drank again. My mother apologized. Both went to their graves on a good note with me.
