How do you know you’ve ever been loved, if it’s not long lasting?

Simple, when the person is not present, you feel empty. A hollowness gets created in your heart for the time being.
The person away from you tries to maintain connection somehow. Through chats, through calls.

I myself feel bad for my father. First day of college and he was calling every half an hour. I am really not used to people calling me. And he used to call once or twice every 15 days.

The result... I snapped at him saying not to call me every now and then. I feel really sorry for him...

Now I attend to both of my parents anyhow anytime.

Define long-lasting. My wife and I married at the ages of 22, (me), and 24 (her). She died at the age of 44. She gave up so much to marry me and supported me while I spent many years racing. If that's not love then what do you call it?

@lightbulb27 When I was in high school I built my first stock car and raced it locally. When I returned from Vietnam I drove for a team in asphalt modifieds. I eventually started my own team and then moved up to the NASCAR circuit. I have raced off-road motorcycles, TT-style motorcycles, and asphalt supermodified's.

Love is not necessarily long lasting. Only in the fairy tales.
Love is not forever, it can change, it can turn into hate.
You can feel more love in a summer romance than a lifetime of marriage.
Time is not a defining factor.

Believe me when somebody loves you you know about it you will see it you will feel it taste and touch it smell it hear it and you will become it and if you have not experienced any of those then there are people that might love you but they just don't show you the end of matter that you should be loved so you understand it because when you do it is the most beautiful thing in the world

love can be long lasting... even if the relationships do not go own

for example, a mother that loses her child hours or days after birth...

I would never ever dare to tell her that their love was not real just because it "did not last"

same goes for relationships in which people were in love but for one or many reasons, it became something else over time, even if love ends... it could have been real for the moment it lasted

Hmm. To me this is like asking, "How do I know if I've ever had this weird ingredient in food I've eaten." Maybe you did and you don't know. Maybe you did not and you think you did.

It doesn't have to be long-lasting to be loved. I had an online relationship that lasted for 2 years, I love her as much today as I did then.

I think you have to realize that there are no guarantees in life. Also in life you have to sometimes trust your gut.
