Do you believe in unconditional love?

I ask this because I saw someone from another app ask the same question and it made me come to a realization that (at least to me) it's impossible to love someone unconditionally.

My logic being is that to love someone you have to have a reason for it and whatever that reason is is the condition itself.

So with that being said to love unconditionally would be illogical, unless it's actually possible to love someone for absolutely no reason, which I don't think it is...


I could be entirely wrong on this for all I know, if I am enlighten me with your opinion.

Unconditional love doesn't really mean there's no reason (condition) for loving them.

It's more like how a parent is supposed to love their child even if their kid doesn't turn into a perfect replica mini-me. Or a partner is supposed to love their spouse genuinely and not tie love to meeting conditions like "do the dishes".

It's also important to note unconditional love CAN end if the relationship is sufficiently fractured.

A partner can offer unconditional love, but still want to break up if their spouse cheats or otherwise makes it impossible for the love to continue in a way that is healthy for the person loving.

Personally, it's possible for me. It takes a while to get to the trust level where I do commit to unconditional love, and breaching that trust will break the ability for me to love unconditionally again with that same person.
