Get a journal or even scratch/notebook paper… Write what you want to say, or pretend to write a letter to them. Write everything down and fold it to fit into an envelope. You don’t have to seal it up but just put the letter into the envelope as if you are about to send it to that person.
The best part is, you wrote down what you wanted to say, and you got it out of your system. When you cannot send a text to someone for whatever reason, write it. And you can always write more if you need to add onto it. Writing a physical letter of what you want to say to that person allows you to think more clearly, and it’s less impulsive.
I did that when I went through my past breakup. I wrote 10 full paged letters, I wrote what I wanted to say, I wrote what I felt, and I just folded it and kept it in that envelope. I wanted to send him those letters so bad, but I didn’t. If I were to type out what I wanted to say to my ex over text, I probably would have sent it and that would’ve been a mistake. So, writing it on paper helped me control my impulsive urges.
